Let's see dead or damaged tools either by normal , abuse or accidental reasons. Of course some can still be repaired.

Pferd SB-1 Carbide burr

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003A4H8U8/ref=biss_dp_t_asn

Operator error ... too tired to have continued working ... chipped carbide burr on a hole enlargement task .. wrong choice of pneumatic die grinder ( used a short shaft instead of a long shaft die grinder for more control and obstruction clearance ) and too lazy already to change tool.

The cutting should have been done by the middle portion of the burr and not at the tip.

When tired - STOP and don't push anymore.

Re: Post your Tool Casualties

Be careful how you store your pads specially the PU ones. Here I have $60 worth of reserve pads for the ROS and car polisher gone up in smoke. I think the place were I stored these was too humid. Made the mistake not to put the pads in a sealed bag. Live and learn.

Re: Post your Tool Casualties

Purchased these two items some years back from side walk stalls during town fiestas in our area, so so cheap at Php 35.00 each, un branded assorted tools all at 35.00 each, well you get what you pay for, though lasted me long but I guess when used heavily, this is the result !! 🙁

See the markings on the clamp ? LOL 😀

You can't really expect them to last. But at 35 bucks and it lasted for a couple of years, I think you got more than your money's worth. LOL!

Re: Post your Tool Casualties

Well I have four of those clamps too bro Ding and are still surviving, Lotus and KYK, at least I know what to expect from these kinds of clamps now. Anyway I have switched to purchasing the yellow Stanley heavy duty clamps instead and will find out if indeed they are heavy duty. :banana2: 😉

Re: Post your Tool Casualties

Didn't even last 3 minutes of first use, trying to prune a thumb size branch or so. Siggghhh! Was too confident that it's metal against a branch, and yet it's the metal that gave in immediately.. or it could be my grip is that strong..lolz! :lalala:

Re: Post your Tool Casualties

Sorry about your plant pruner, but I guess its made only of cast iron that is why it broke so soon. 🙁

Re: Post your Tool Casualties

I have one pruner like that. I purchase it locally and so far it has lasted me 4 years already. One of the hand grip wrapping was damaged and long gone but the tool is still sharp and works just fine. The brand is Creston.

Yeah, cast iron definitely due to the grayish color of the metal. Sighh! Too many imitations.

Oic. I saw also the same Creston brand in Ace Hardware around 170php. Exactly the same design. I really thought it would be sturdier than those plastic handle type. I guess depends on how you use it. lolz! I should have used it in just smaller twigs.

Re: Post your Tool Casualties

I have five different pruning shears, I guess they are Taiwan made too except one which I inherited from my mother that I use for my plants and usually they are just for those top leave or twigs/branches that needed to be removed but not bigger than a pencil diameter, if the branch is as big as a thumb or more then I use my other heavy duty pruning and cutting shear, similar to this,

link :

This can cut tough branches as thick as 3/4" to 1", blade is very sharp and if you know how to severe a branch little by little. 😉 🙂 😎

a bit of OT here mga masters, can you identify what kind of metal is used on this clamp?, can this be fixed by welding?
