My good friend V, don,t worry bro about our new friend idv14, everything is cool and the situation have been explained to him na, so OK na. He has made his formal introduction and he'll be participating soon, I guess in the future when time permits. I also learned that he is a friend of bro Ernie Serrano, a contractor also and recommended him to join the PHM community, but that was last year pa. Hahaha, good thing he remembered. :p

Anyway everything has been ironed out, its fine and nothing really serious to give special attention to, just consider it a mis judgement in the past and let's just move on forward. Oh yes I got your PM my friend, like I said its past and just simply move forward.

Can anyone recommend me a good reputable portable lithium ion powered drill brand and model?

To add to what has already been said. This may not be a consideration, but if there is possibility of wanting/needing other cordless tools in future, you may want to check what other tools are available for each brand, since you will probably want to share the very expensive battery/ies and charger among them, i.e., buy the first tool as a kit (with batteries and charger) and the others as bare tool only, no batteries.

Example: In deciding between Bosch, Makita, and Metabo for 18 V Li-ion (~2010), I was 'forced' to go all Makita because they had one particular tool that I was looking for which the others did not. Also they looked like had more extensive offerings (like blower, vacuum, sander, grinder, radio, light, etc., in addition to cutting and drilling).

If battery sharing is not an objective, then of course above consideration does not apply. Also, this is in the context of online purchasing. I don't know if you can buy cordless tools bare (w/o batteries and charger) locally.

Welcome !!! That is how we normally greet someone new regardless of background or expertise. Forgive our co-member's initial response. Whatever possessed him to greet your post in such a form I am assuming he is just joking or perhaps in a not so pleasant mood.:confused: Nevertheless don't be discouraged as most of us in this community take your posts with utmost respect and reply urgently to aid you in your quest for DIYing. If I may, here are several things I consider in your query as a co contractor:

1. Budget
2. Grade of usage; heavy duty, light duty etc.
3. User training - a lot of site workers have the ability to destroy even the most unbreakable brands
4. Brand affinity - we as DIYers have our own preference but for job site users you may have to factor in site abuse in your deliberation.

Now, here are tried and tested brands in my 17 years as a heavy user of local brands:
Metabo, Makita, Hitachi, and Bosch. You may also try to use the surplus brands like RYOBI. They aren't as heavy duty but they do get the job done especially for budget conscious people like me. I could not speak for the famous imported models 'coz God knows how much they cost to make them work on my sites (110V transformers) and how my workers would love to give them a whack:eek: Keep your posts coming and we will try to answer them in the best form we can. I am same as idv14...just read this post so I am asking...Now I have a BOSCH 16RE corded Drill...I love it as is kaso lang it so heavy..esp when doing some ceiling jobs...So I ask about RYOBI...sir how do you feel about this Brand ? I have seen a lot of good branding promotion about this brand in the internet...its very cool for personal use...so I just ask your opinion...is it worth buying..?
