I found this site showing how to revive your old power tool batteries.
I haven't tried it yet but based on comments they actually work.

Before you start though, heed the safety warning!

Scroll down the comments on other alternatives besides using a welding machine.

Interesting video and very dangerous too !! That DC welder is not usually used here in the Philippines it is either a TIG or a MIG as shown by that tank of gas on it.

I've tried to do this with NiCads and some work and some don't. The ones that work don't last long so,
bottomline is, it ain't worth it. Get new one's put in it.
