Good day,
It's good to see a forum about DIY. I am very interested in DIY since a child.
I would like to purchase a rotary tool like dremel or black and decker's rtx series.
I saw this JML brand on all ACE hardware branches I went to and was surprise it is being sold for only 1.2k i think. Anyone uses or tried using this hand held tool? Can you give me feed back on it.
Another is that, we are moving in our own house maybe this year and I would like to have my own brand new set of power tools. Where can I purchase good quality power tools for a cheap price?
Re: Rotary and Power Tool Questions
Hi evilclown,
Sorry I've never heard of the JML brand nor see it. The truth is I've yet to buy a rotary tool come to thing of it. Not much use for the things I do I suppose. Just the same thanks for mentioning it.
I think Binondo is still the least expensive place to buy. Keep in mind that there are two "levels" of tools nowadays: commercial/industrial and DIY/household-use. The difference is mostly in the materials used to build the tools. Obviously the commercial/industrial level tools are sturdier and more robust but more expensive.
The thing is I've never had the chance to compare Binondo DIY level tool prices to those in the malls. Sometimes I'm surprised by the good bargains the mall based hardware stores can put out. If you are going to buy several at the same time, the time and effort to go to Binondo may be worth it.
Re: Rotary and Power Tool Questions
@evilclown, haven't heard of JML too (or maybe I just didn't pay much attention to it whenever I'm in ace).
as where to purchase, if it's a tool that's below the 5k mark, I usually just go to the mall-based hws... for convenience. otherwise, I try to give fineline (in alabang-zapote) a call and see if they've got a better deal.
hth.

I've tried that tool already. Recommended for light duty use only like jewelry cleaning and minor buffing/grinding. Not much torque even at full charge, you can easily stop it with your bare fingers. Definitely not comparable to a dremel tool. But for handyman/home use it will suffice.

Re: Rotary and Power Tool Questions
will buying the diy/household use tools will have the sufficient durability when used in the household? or i still need to invest for the industrial level tools to have that durability.

sorry I forgot how long alabang-zapote road was... anyway, if you're coming from coastal area, it's just after the Our Lady of Guadalupe (er... Hospital? School? sorry, memory gap) on the right side. There's a cycle shop beside it. Fineline's frontage isn't like your typical hardware store, it's like those banks with aluminum and glass "walls" and doors upfront. It does have a large sign overhead. No problem for parking too. ;D
hth - will ask somebody back home to see if they can find my last receipt so I can post their contact number/address.

Re: Rotary and Power Tool Questions
was suppose to do that, but I need precision cutting because I can't go wrong on cutting the pvc, the pvc was having a unique characteristic. I just found it as scrap. That's why i'm looking for a good cutting tool.

Re: Rotary and Power Tool Questions
Thanks for the advice. Did you see something on the product?
I think I would rather invest on an RTX by Black and Decker.

Re: Rotary and Power Tool Questions
So Fineline is the name of the store right?
When coming from coastal, would it be at my right or left?
Thanks

Re: Rotary and Power Tool Questions
Right side as I mentioned on my previous post. They couldn't find my receipt back home but hope this will help:
Tyronne (Fineline) - +639228185050
Re: BnD RTX. I own one myself. Chose it due to the fact that back when I was looking for one, Dremel wasn't too available just yet. Plus it was under HSBC's promo back then. hehe. Though it looks like it's slowly getting more and more available... from what I hear. I can't prove it myself though as I am not looking for one anymore. ;D
