Re: Router Suggestions

Am considering buying a router. Of all the Makita routers in the 36xx series, the one that seems to be in mall stores more often is the 3601B (1-3/8 hp, D-handle, 12 mm or 1/2" collet, fixed base). It seems to be an older model, but 'tried and tested', and with generally good reviews. Any comments on this model or alternatives?

well you can get its big brother the 3600H, 2.25hp and a D-handle as well. it runs smoother than the 3601B with more power to boot. I currently have an extra in excellent condition and hardly gets used, that I can part ways with. pm me if you are interested.

Collet capacity 12mm or 1/2"
Input 1,500W
No load speed 24,000rpm
Overall height 210mm (8-1/4")
Base dia 160mm (6-1/4")
Net weight 4.3kg (9.5lbs)
Power supply cord 5m (16.4ft.)

just a query, what do you plan to do with a router?

click my signature and it will take you there........

Re: Router Suggestions

I would also recommend you get a trimming bit. It is just a straight bit with a bearing at the end. This one of the bits I often find a use for. There are lots of bits nowadays. Again if you can go to Binondo. Bro timber I suspect knows where. Sorry I can't make any recommendations about the mall stores as all my sets were bought in the U.S.

Yeah the Makita 3600 was what I was lusting for before I discovered a John Benzen costing only 25% of what the Makita. I also use GMC routers. I also had a Craftsman before but it was 110v so I sold it.
