ok ok i mentioned on my other post that my table saw top no longer had rust coming after treating it with a preventive rust application.... I WAS WRONG!!!

but needless to say it wasnt as bad as the rust i had to deal before. when i left it for 2 months. This time i left it for almost half a year and it didnt rust as bad

from this

to this

i have not uploaded the detailed bits will upload later with detailed work. not much sanding involved, actually a very light run on a grit 80. Mostly was elbow greese with a scrub pad (scotchbrite)

Re: Rust!!

no sand paper on this one, since i dont want to grind away any of the .0001" or so accuracy of the reference sides

Re: Rust!!

Yes it does, on our tools.

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.

Re: Rust!!

heheheh OO nga eh nabitin. I had pics of all stages with the products i used so its supposed to be a picture story para wala nang literature, but imageshack didnt uplaod ALL of the pics... geeeez so will upload them again tonight or tomorrow

That would be around the same price i paid for. The fence is good but needs to be re aligned once in a while. The lack of a riving knife if probably the biggest deal breaker for everyone. And the blade assembly does not have provision or space for any after market or shopmade riving knife

Re: Rust!!

soak in for about ... 5 minutes

Scotchbrite here and elbow grease..... looking at this picture again, what i wiped off may not be rust, could be just wood dust and what not?

needles to say it did the bulk of the work

Re: Rust!!

carefully reading the label, avoiding anything that is basically not metal

This was like............. WOOOOOW i never treated the wings before since i could not be bothered... but this came out almost sublime.

I used scotchbrite first, it will form a dark brown slurry, which i think is good, then a few passes on a grit 80 sand paper for those larger buildups

i am very happy already at this point

Re: Rust!!

i left it for 5 minutes then wiped it off

the cheapest and best lubricant for the shop.... JOHNSON FLOOR WAX ( i got this tip from Timber)

I put it on my dovetail saw, on by scroll saw blade, bandsaw blade, bandsaw and table saw table....

pretty straight forward

judging from the time stamp. I did all this in half an hour. All those stuff were bought from Wilcon since i am literally a few steps away

Re: Rust!!

WOW !!!!!!! beebeenator, ang kinis na muli ng table saw mo and you just did it in 30 minutes, did I read it right ? Very nice table top ben, i like it, ang lapad ng mga side wings, perfect for cutting full sheet plywood. :p 🙂

Sana maka gawa kana rin ng mga new WIPS, by the way what happened to your very small jewelry boxes , the ones na ginagamitan mo ng band saw, they are so cute though, very nice as gifts for christmas, don't you think sir ben ?

I was sana wanting to give you some pieces of hardwood like the Kakawate and see what you can do to those pieces if you cut them up into 4" or 5", kasi ang ganda rin ng kalagitnaan ng wood na yon. 😀 I forgot already how you call those small mini boxes, just can't remember any more.
