A couple of things to consider...

The RYOBI bandsaw is not a medium nor heavy duty equipment. It is simply a light duty tool w/ minimal cutting power that is suitable only for thin sheets. Please consider a jigsaw if you plan to cut more than 12mm thickness. Blade replacement is a pain due to limited sources and is as bad as a coping saw's life. Please consider a scroll saw for curve cuts. Lastly, I have 3 units in my shop collecting dust for the past 4 years due to the limitations i have mentioned.

Re: Ryobi Bandsaw question

Ryobi HBS150L (250watts) is for light DIY cutting only. Thats why it is called DIY tool. Not recommended for heavy duty use. If your cutting thicker wood you could try the the next model which is the 400watts.. As for blade replacement you could find plenty of the blades @ my suki store in T Alonzo st. Sta. Cruz Manila at a very cheap price of 105 pesos per piece..

Re: Ryobi Bandsaw question

Thanks to all the kind reply! im really interested in that DIY bandsaw for small projects instead of using a jigsaw. thanks sir pyth for the tip, but how's the blade life on those Ryobi HBS150L? do they snap fairly easily? A very good price for the bandsaw blade!

Re: Ryobi Bandsaw question

I have a 400 watts Ryobi bandsaw, just using it for only 3 months, to prolong the life of the blade before you use it for the first time, you have to check up the blade alignment and tune up to the best that you can, you can watch or download how to tune up the bandsaw on the youtube, good luck.

I don't sell tools so my advice is based on the premise of a good or thorough tool review as a user and equipment investor. As a professional woodworker I try to give you as much useful info so you won't make some of the mistakes i've made during the curious and canvassing stage. If there is one thing you need to know is that people will say good things about a tool when they are selling it to you but when you get the real picture of the lemon you've bought they will claim the opposite of their sales pitch. :diablo: A scroll saw blade is cheaper for the same function as the HBS 150L. A jigsaw can cut thicker substrate and solid wood than the HBS 150L. For a small price difference you might want to think things thoroughly before you buy even the 400 watts. Just my:two cents::hang:
