Re: Show your recent tool purchase/s ( The Tool/s Loot )
I don't think the spring acts a spring, I believe its there serving as a handle and won't absorb anything...
Sorry to disagree with you on this but bro Jay is right it does have a purpose, the spring serves as a dumper or shock absorber for the hand and wrist when chipping slags from a weld. I do not know if you have one but I made some experiment with it to see for myself. :p
While holding the chipping hammer with my right hand, I gripped tightly the head with my left hand and started to rock it back and forth and from there I can feel the spring flexing and trying to absorb the rocking motion of the chipping hammer's shaft and head. The grip of the right hand stays firm and does not rock with the head's impact possibly on the metal. 😀 😉

Re: Show your recent tool purchase/s ( The Tool/s Loot )
great katana bit you have there..
btw..i wonder why they make all sorts of router raising gadgets when you will have to kneel down just the same setting up the bits.
the best i guess is to have a foot pedal operated router raising mechanism while you set up the bit height...
to make the story short...id rather make a horizonal router...no fuss setting the bit height.hehe
but one would say its more dangerous to operate.

Re: Show your recent tool purchase/s ( The Tool/s Loot )
nope Rosy don't have one. in this picture is the shaft of the hammer connected or floating on any one end of the spring?
if any of the end is floating it definitely will dampen, but if neither is.... :disagree: then it would adsorb energy less than a wooden handle. though I could be wrong since I don't own one.
but this one I now own.... :naughty2:

Chisel spent some time kanina sa shop trying the scms. Out of the box everything was cutting sweet and surprisingly very clean even with a stock 60tooth blade... maybe someday I will replace it with Freud.

Re: Show your recent tool purchase/s ( The Tool/s Loot )
Cone wrenches! I bought some cheap ones before when i got myself some 2nd hand shimano xt.. (i think they're called) hubs to regrease the ball bearings. Followed the instructions from sheldonbrown.com
Cheap stuff isn't even hardened, like the cheesy wrenches that comes with some power tools. Lasted me one use heh >_<.
