Posted these tools before which I picked up on a trip. Just wanted to repost the photos to say that I'm very happy with the chisels.

Used them for the first time today and they were really sharp and felt good in my hands. If anyone here would find themselves in Tokyo, I'd be happy to give directions to Tokyu Hands (Shibuya) where one can get them.

As for the rabbet plane, I tapped on the iron too hard and it protruded too far. Having a tough time trying to rap it back.

Been on the road so ngayon ko lang nabusan my box of goodies:

Straight out of the box, I was making thinner-than-bacon-strips.

Curious. My first time to see this packing material:

Im sure magpe-penitensya ako nang husto this Lent.

Im drooling with your new tools bro! For me may kumot pa yan para di ginawin lol..

arrived more than a week ago but I have no time to open box..

finally find time today..

I also bought some good blades as suggested by most users..

and to make sure my new toy is safe when my memory gap attacks I glued RV plug adapter that I use exclusively for 110V tools

Excellent idea! Gagayahin ko.

What I have on mine is a clumsy wrap-around of electrical tape.

BTW, I'm almost certain it is, but did you check if your glue is non-conductive?

Re: Show your recent tool purchase/s ( The Tool/s Loot )

Thanks for your concern bro. My ohmmeter shows it's non-conductive. I still have to observe it if the bond it good when fully cured, otherwise I have to try other means just to make sure it stays in place.

A cable tie works for my other kitchen appliance. This plug have done its job one time when swmbo tried to plug this 110V blender to a 220V outlet. hallelujah she cant!

Where'd you get that power adaptor, BTW? I use flat-to-round but it is somewhat loose in the transformer's socket. Yours look a lot better. And I like the high-visibility yellow.

I bought 6 pairs of this from the usual source bro, the jungle of everything:

Re: Show your recent tool purchase/s ( The Tool/s Loot )

sorry guys but i am color blind...and i dont trust my color perception 100 percent of the time..what i did instead....is to make another table for the TS4100, the table height na swak na swak sa height ko!!!

like i said, i dont trust myself sometimes..ito kahit nakapikit ako, sure hindi sasabog 4100 ko...

btw...me fuse ba ang 4100? wala yata...kaya ingat ingat! hehe

@camv,

congrats btw sa proven reliable TS..i.e. 4100...hoping you and your saw will have a loooooooong time together knee deep in dust!

Curious. My first time to see this packing material:

Kind of makes you think how to keep the tool as rust-free as when you first unpacked it.

Couldn't find a spec on manufacturer's website how long that Uniwrap MPI (or vci paper in general) is expected to be effective, e.g., when kept in a closed space like a drawer.

BTW, LN also sells that particular paper and jojoba/camellia oil.

Speaking of which, anyone tried jojoba or other 'exotic' oil for rust prevention? ... does it work any better than say cheap, ubiquitous machine (mineral) oil or floor/paste wax?

I have tried all of them Guad, the Jojoba works best amongst the choices but still rust can get through (though less and longer before it does). I haven't tried the one from Boesheild though and I have come across another which maybe I will try in the future.
our big concern really is the humidity in our country, one thing I know is never place your handplanes in a plywood bottom cabinet, I really don't know why but plywood seems to keep moisture and pass it onto the metal...
