Re: Show your recent tool purchase/s ( The Tool/s Loot )

I'm willing to let you try my TIG torch kit with your Yamato unit if you like. Just provide the argon gas. I know a lot of people here have the Yamato unit. Just let me know when and where.

Currently I have only Arco Gas ... if I get Argon for welding aluminum with my spool gun then I will let you know so we can test. However this Argon is still in my wish list.

Hi Bro,

They are the same apple. Yes Nihonweld is just a sticker. How much did you get it? Does it come with a TIG kit also?

Bro Butch ... how useful is this kind of tool in metalworking? If a stand is built would it work out as a good stationary mini band saw?

Re: Show your recent tool purchase/s ( The Tool/s Loot )

Once you've tried cutting on a bandsaw using a good bimetal blade you'll probably never go back to an abrasive chop saw, the cut is more precise, cleaner and no burn marks compared to that of a chopsaw, and no dusts and noise and excess metal to deburr after cutting, we use horizontal bandsaws in the shop, this one is just to add portability in case we need to do work outside or when doing small work, the attachments to make it into a vertical and horizontal saw is just to add to the versatility of the tool. ( trip lang hehehe)... specially when making cuts on small objects that can't be clamped on a chop saw, just put it on a vice and cut using the portable bandsaw, kakapagod mag manual hacksaw hehehe...

Thanks bro ... looking forward for your build version of a stand. I saw a few of these at ww.weldingweb.com but never paid much attention because I'm not sure how the tool can serve me with my DIY kind of work.

Can I also cut and join bandsaw blades using my mig welder or a tig is needed?

Re: Show your recent tool purchase/s ( The Tool/s Loot )

to add in using a portable bandsaw, sometimes the work can't come to the saw, the saw has to go to the work, specially when i'm cutting a piece from a large piece of 20 ft steel, it would be a bother to transfer an entire piece to the work area when i can do my cutting on the shelves.....

"Can I also cut and join bandsaw blades using my mig welder or a tig is needed?"
Yes, i've tried joining blades using a mig and it holds up as well as a tigged blade, just a series of spots so as not to burn a hole through the blade, i made a jig to hold the blades in place during welding to make sure the blades are straight and aligned, afterwards the excess weld is ground off and the blade is annealed to regain flexibility. locally bought blades are silver brazed and they seem to hold also, we buy 100 ft rolls of blades to bring the cost down and ensure a constant supply of blades...

IMHO You should have asked for some discounts for these rusty old stock clamps or if it was me whose buying, I will not, I will look or find some that are better looking than that. Wasn't there a tag included somewhere where it is on sale ? I suppose the original tag price there is for new, shinny and un rusted item, what happened to the consumers rights and satisfaction ?

Well that's just my personal opinion, nothing against you or your personal preference.
But still congrats with your new loot !!! 😉

Peace and Cheers
