It's cheaper there then. 😀
A quick feedback about the sander is the build quality is solid, the plastic parts are what looks to me tough enough for most hobby to medium use. Though some of the edges of the plastic parts needed a bit of trimming, must be quality control issue that only affects aesthetics and certainly not affect performance. I think for some this may make the tool look like a cheapo product.
The included accessories are also a big welcome, like the clamps for mounting the sander upside down and an extra belt. So the package came with two sanding belts already and both are 80 grit. The cool thing I liked about it is that I can easily order the belts, the price ranges from 80 to 130 Pesos. Though I intend to use the sander for quick removal of material so I would probably order course belts and delegate my orbital sander for finishing tasks.
Accessories like a dust bag and an attachment to a vacuum cleaner is another welcome addition for me, IMHO. Variable speed is also included so you can fine tune the speed you want to use. Changing belts is also a breeze.
The motor is pretty strong, plus the weight of 6Kgs means you just need to control the sander and let the weight and the action of the belt do all the work for you.
In contrast, I was actually eyeing on getting an Ozito BSR-1000 which is about a quarter of the price I paid for the Skil belt sander, the only problem I encountered with the Ozito is that there wasn't a reliable seller that I could find. Some will post in Sulit but when you're ready to buy, they are suddenly out of stock. Needless to say, I'm a sure buyer of things that I need and the thing I hate the most is encountering airware sellers. 😡
I have spent 5K on so many things, some I regret doing but spending for this belt sander I do not. This is not a Bosch or a Makita, but having owned a lot of Skil products, I agree when they say that it "get's the job done".
Cheers
Jojo
