5606B makita 160mmΓΈ circular saw with quickie diy compass guide for curve cuts

cutting laminates

@fortnapz
Sir, i have some newbie questions: πŸ™‚

1. Did you glue the laminate first before cutting the excess?
2. Did you use a special blade for your CS to cut the laminate?
3. I'm using a 40-tooth blade, will this do?

:thanks:

[COLOR="Blue"]It can be glued before cutting. but i used to cut it first before glueing baka masira pagcut mahirap magbaklas, mas malaking trabaho.
2. Did you use a special blade for your CS to cut the laminate?
[COLOR="blue"][COLOR="Blue"]I just use the blade that comes with my cs when i bought it. its just a 24t tct blade.
3. I'm using a 40-tooth blade, will this do?
[COLOR="blue"]Yes, this will do provided that it is sharp to eleminate/minimize chipping of laminates. have a trial or cutting test to the laminate before cutting it to the desired sizes, pwede ring i-cut mo ang laminate na nasa ilalim yong finished surface ng laminate.

Do you use a punch so the bit doesn't wander? On the ocassional times i drill holes in metal i use a 3/16" for pilot holes first, i figured it'll preserve the pricey large bits.

===
I gotta say i love this cute lil gedore pipe wrench. It ain't a toy. I had a small daiken, there's a chinese cheapy here too- both are painted red and look just like the ridgid in the pic but it just don't work well. The ridgid just bites well into the metal on the first time, everytime. This is the size they use for deep well pipes though so it ain't handy.

The gedore pivots against a spring and it really works! The ridgid is meant for repeated use and thus have replaceable jaws.

Sorry for the mess!

It's granddad's tool and the teeth's a bit mangled so i filed it. The glued sliver of card tells me if i've oriented the file correctly. It now bites automatically on regular pipes like the ridgid, but i have to position it well on stainless. It's older than me but it's such a goodie it deserves to be restored (will spray paint it too.)

EDIT: Oh wow, they're still making it

Re: Show your tools in action

I often use 135 degree split point bits so I don't punch anymore. These are designed to bite harder on initial contact so don't wander.

If I use 118 degree bits I will usually punch or drill starter holes using Center bits. I will also drill starter holes when drilling round objects even if using split point bits .....

Wikipedia Photo

Very very good starter bit ... rigid, no flex and absolutely no tip wandering. I purchased mine at Panda and the brand is KEO or Dormer.

Re: Show your tools in action

Timb, am i already fat? Everyone says so so it must be true. 71 kgs. All the midnight snacks are catching up on me. And lack of exercise, I used to bike when i lived in a town that was bike-friendly.

I cleaned up those tin cans for parts storage. Fits well in a 3 inch drawer. Fits just right on cheap plastic containers with lid too.

Hmmm. From the looks of it, you can use it to deburr right?

clean as you go. Everything in it's place, a place everything. Must keep in mind and practice those regularly >_<.

I have not tried it for deburring but the bits are really very hard.

Along while back ... while visiting a friend's friend who loves to cook I had chance to be with them all the way from marketing to cooking and finally eating and dish cleanup.

I noticed that during the cooking stage he was bringing out most of his " kitchen tools " preparing then cooking the food. He was fond of powered stuff. However what caught my eye was when the food was done the kitchen was as clean as when he started. He was practically cooking and cleaning as he went with the chore ..... LOL
