Re: Make your own windscreen.

Well, I know its an ugly oven.
but to justify my disregard for safety and looks, I would like to call it as my prototype.
For whatever you guys will think about my oven, i dont really care.
I just want to let everyone know that if you need an oven and your neighbors has nothing to lend you.
Then you can make a disposable one. So there you go.

for those who still dont get it. 😉 . No its not an electric fan.

Re: Make your own windscreen.

If it is any consolation, I read somewhere in internet that it will take more than 200 C before you can start burning a paper with heat.
My max is 140 C. But just in case i did it outdoor beside a big drum of water. Calculated risk?

Using one heat gun, I baked my acrylic at exactly 35 minutes @ 140 C . I think it will be faster if i can make the temperature higher, but i cant , i only have one lousy heat gun.

Very clever contraption, ben! Before you posted the oven pics I thought it will be an expensive contraption. Pwede ko palang hiramin yung hair dryer ni misis when the need arises.

Please allow me to suggest some improvements.

Based on the picture the heat gun sucking cool air from the outside and blowing heated air into the box. Initially its the cool air in the box that is being displaced but after a while it will also be heated air that's coming out.

I'm guessing the heat gun's output is 140C if the incoming air is at room temperature. From 30C to 140C thats 110C increase. Eventually all the initial cool air inside will be pushed out and the system reaches an equilibrium state at around 140C.

If you want to go beyond 140C maybe you can put the heat gun entirely inside the box. There will be no more intake and exhaust ports. No cool air coming in, no hot air going out. Just monitor the temperature closely and be ready to unplug the heat gun. Don't forget the fire extinguisher.

Oh, maybe lining the inside of the box with aluminum foil will help keep radiant heat from escaping. It will also minimize the carton's exposure to heat, lessening the chances of combustion. :boom1:

Re: Make your own windscreen.

Last month my son was asking me to build him a Beyblade arena. Now I know how to do it.

Where did you buy the plaster of paris? Looks like the kid and I now have a weekend project.

Re: Make your own windscreen.

@Joey81
I know you may be joking, but don't use the hairdryer for this, have a very high chance of burning out the hairdryer, baka ikaw ang mailagay sa oven. 😀 Been there, done that on some projects.

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.
