I have some leftover tiles when I waterproofed my terrace and want to use them rather than let them laying around. I searched the internet if its possible to use them as table top and found some images of tile topped tables.
This table looks so simple to copy:
so i grabbed my tiles and took some measurements:
Immediately I milled some mahogany using my jointer and thicknesser and ripped them on my Chin table saw.
Re: 2nd CoffeeTable
I will be using mitered lap joineries and I used my SCMS for the miter cuts. The trouble with having a small shop space is I have to maximize my table saw by converting it into 2-in1 machine.
After cutting the woods and completing the rabbets, I assembled it to test if the tiles fit. It looks ok.
Re: 2nd CoffeeTable
Glued up and dowelled the mitered lap joints.

Re: 2nd CoffeeTable
While wife is watching 2 consecutive teleseryes after dinner, it is my window time to do woodworking and managed to continue this WIP (work-in-process) of my coffee table.
The stretchers were cut on my table saw:
After cutting I drilled holes on them, they will be attached to the legs and to the table top through pocket holes.
and they are ready for assembly tonight.
Before I ended my session last night, I smoothen the parts by using my cabinet scraper to reduce the amount of time for sanding.
Re: 2nd CoffeeTable
Assembled everything last night..finishing session again this coming saturday.

Re: 2nd CoffeeTable
The table finally completed yesterday after 2 hours of finishing process. This could have been a very quickie project but being a weekend woodworking warrior and weeknights DIYer it took me a whole week to complete this simple and inexpensive project.
On my Chin painting station, the table received its initial color and its successive coats of sanding sealer and clear coat varnish.
The tiles were likewise sprayed with varnish.
and this is the finish product...
.
.....i love woodworking.
