A simple desk for my sister.

1.0 Sketched up...
2.0 Cutting into pieces using mod CS into simple rail T square. Good help I think. Before, I only use handsaw and JS .he he he.
3.0 Jig sawing part of leg support using my very first PT since '93.
4.0 Cut parts ready for edge preps.
Not been able to take pictures for the edge preps, sanding and edge routing. Nalibang kasi ako sa routing practice ko. he he he. Humn, ayos naman siguro. No complaint from SWMBO.

5.0 Later part of the assy process.
Waiting for glue to cure.
6.0 Top part edge contour.
Setup red toy's bit and height. Lying upside down.
6.1 Done edge trimming.
6.2 Changed bit. Done simple edge contour. Friendly for the wrist.
6.3 After some more sanding, applied wood stain.

stain curing tonight...some more to follow...

Nice build, Ariel. Simple and functional.

Gumagana na pala yung track saw mo. 🙂

Aantabayanan ko ang finishing mo ng plywood top. Siguradong may matututunan ako. Hehehe.

Re: 2nd Post - Sharing JOs

Few pictures.
Sanding sealer application.
- Brush application only. No spray eqpt yet.
After 6 hrs, do light sanding ( para mawala na rin ang magaspang sa hagod ng kamay). Then final coat.

As of 5 pm, this is how it looks. Tomorrow, I'll do smoothing at Marikina ( sister ko ). I usually do sanding using 600 grit. Then, small amount of polishing cpd. Then, pampadulas. Ayun na.

(I usually use Valspar final coat as per specs ni SWMBO (4-5 hrs dry to touch). It so happen that very windy dito sa Dasma. Open garage pa naman ang makeshift workarea ko. So, I used lacquer instead.)

Addn. Nick marks due to my errors. He he he. Alam mo naman, bago lang sa Router and clamps...

next project soon...

Very nice!

On the clamp marks, I also learned that lesson the hard way sometime back. I now have a box of scrap wood and plastic sheets nearby so, when I clamp for gluing, I use them as padding.

Re: 2nd Post - Sharing JOs

one thing I have learned during my early stages of woodworking (particularly scrollsawing) is that never reveal your mistakes. People often will not see them and appreciate the beauty of your work.
The trouble with us woodworkers is that we know the errors, mistakes and whatever, but really a well built project is something to behold, errors and all.
Trust me, no one will ever find the clamp marks.... unless they are woodworker like us.

Very, very true!

Somewhat related. I was refinishing our breakfast table with stain and polyurethane. I asked SWMBO "Do I need to also refinish the undersides? Nobody sees it anyway". She said "Can you live with the thought of knowing that you did not paint the undersides?". She knows me too well.

Doc, I believe that is a flat double sill. 4 inches wide. Around 300 pesos for the 20-foot piece.

@ V

Joey81 is right. Its a dual track Al for sliding doors. Only 3 in is available at shops near our place at Cavite. Good to consider a wider profile.

@ Timber,

Thanks for a great input. Well noted...

Re: 2nd Post - Sharing JOs

it would have been so much better if you added fancy woodcarving designs with the aid of cnc to make the table look so good

"it would have been so much better if you added fancy woodcarving designs with the aid of cnc to make the table look so good"

it is nice to have a cnc...in a factory...on an industrial magnitude.

i am just a hobbyist and make 1 or 2 functional furnitures in a year and never i imagined my works to be looking like made by robots.

if at all possible... without the power tools, i simply want my two creative hands to take all the credits using time and tested hand tools.

@joey @ av,

thanks..i believe a 6" wide flatform is the ideal width..4" is wanting..but i dont think there is an availble 6" wide window sill in aluminum shops.

i am thinking of making a parallel housing for the cs..in that way...both sides are taken cared of ensuring straight cuts..can you picture this?
