Re: 6 pieces Dining Chairs
very nice set of chairs, sir armand!
i just want to ask sir if you have considered computing the cost of steam-bending 2x2s compared to tapered-cutting 2x4s? thanks!

Thanks vyrus626. I thought of that also as shotrcut method. Definitely steam bending is a lot lot cheaper than shaping the 2x4s. Imagine the amount of waste your throwing into the garbage, its almost half of the 2x4s. Not only that, the shaped upper part will have shorter grain making it weak and very susceptible to breakage....so it's not proper for this type of project. You can only apply that cut-through method into a project with short, wide, and thick boards..i.e. [COLOR="Blue"]coffee table...;) cheers!

Re: 6 pieces Dining Chairs
After much delays I finally finished this project. The whole set consists 138 parts and 168 pairs of mortises and tenons. Its almost impossible to produce 6 uniform chairs without a dedicated mortise and tenon jig and a drum sander thicknesser that helped me eased the cuttings and dimensioning of the parts. Finished with 2 coats of sanding sealer and sprayed 3 times with Ace Deep Mahogany Gloss polyurathane Stain-and-Finish in 1 . The color of the leather seat is Mocha. The matching table will have to wait til' next year.

Hope you like the final outcome.
I can now proceed with my [COLOR="RoyalBlue"]Jointer Build.
Thanks for following this project.

Very nice work brader, I never really tried the Stain-and-Finish poly yet but they came out gorgeous. You said you sprayed it on 3 coats right? Hmmmm, baka madinig yan ni Jonathan :secret:... Congrats I'm sure the rest of the family would appreciate them...

Re: 6 pieces Dining Chairs
great looking dining chairs!
almost a decade ago, i made two dining chairs made of salvaged pines from crates...using a hand drill, chisels and what nots..it was painstaking to equally copy the prototype...i planned to make 3 but ended up making just two..still two today but still standing.:)
will post a pic of these chairs when i have the time.
i can relate brader. chair making by itself is a specialty in woodworking...(well i still dream that i can make some Maloof-like ones in the future..)hehe.
wala bang wip yung cushion making?sure we want to learn how you build them.
and i am sure, jonathan is as interested.
great finish too..i have tried the ACE combi mahogany stain-poly finish years ago but since its oil based, drying time was quite long. i dont know if a water based counterpart is already on Ace shelves.
projects like these excite and inspire us members always.
hats off to you!!!

re: Ace Mahogany stain and finish.
Does the color get darker everytime you put on a new coat?
Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.
