Re: A Simple Speaker Stand

been doing a back and forth move on these stands, stain, no stain then edge, no edge...

two more coats of poly and this would be ready for delivery. I hope the owner likes it this way, seems to look best this way imho...

Re: A Simple Speaker Stand

Looks great! It shows more character by emphasizing the difference between the slabs and the body(shaft). That looks more expensive than having a monotone scheme IMHO.

I believe one reason could be that the maple finished in shellac resembles pine... well from the previous pictures iba na rin ang character nya...

Re: A Simple Speaker Stand

Doc, yes adjustable height nga sya. I use threaded screws and got some hex nuts from hafele(not sure of description) but they are very nice.

Rony, these are made for C7's also... :poke: :borg1::win:

Re: A Simple Speaker Stand

sealed then stained with walnut, dried for 24hrs and lightly sanded before I sprayed red mahogany stain...

coming closer to the color and shade of my speakers...

tomorrow it gets a coat of poly...

I think I'll thank you Timber for adding inspiration for the speaker stands I really need to get to building. I've done several searches for stands I might like but none really caught my eye.

OT: I put a small inexpensive audio system in my workshop with the intention of eliminating an excuse not to spend some time in it.

Re: A Simple Speaker Stand

Very nice speaker stands Timber, my boss will surely love to have this in his showroom (he owns the AVDI in Shangrila).

yup Wilfred is my boss here in their printng plant..he once brought me along to france to visit the jmfocal lab manufacturing facilities. They have a very nice woodworking facilities there for the speaker boxes and saw how the Ethiopa was being made.

btw, Wilfred is the sole owner of AVDI.

Re: A Simple Speaker Stand

very nice Armand, baka gusto rin nya ko isama sa France:tv_horror:... hehehe, kidding aside, that should give you plenty ideas on bending and veneer work. I have seen and heard the Focal Utopia, very dynamic I should say....
Glad to know he is sole proprietor, maybe that was why he offered me a good deal that I badly wanted to make. Send him my regards though I am sure he doesn't remember me.
