Re: arts and craft style sofa ( morris chair longer version )

next level for you Jon is to finish before assembly. I know it sounds difficult, but since all the hard work is almost done, add a little more time and pre finish. thrust me, you can never have a finish like it and should give you more satisfaction.
can't congrats you yet... di pa tapos eh:superhero: but I will keep an eye on it. :tv_horror:

cheers

Re: arts and craft style sofa ( morris chair longer version )

while waiting for the glue to dry i still managed to glue the morris chair single seater at the same time...
mabilis na pag assembly, matagal talaga ang preparation...

now i realized, i really should have pre-finished the project...

Re: arts and craft style sofa ( morris chair longer version )

and while wating for the glue to dry, may time pa ako makagawa ng cleats para sa upholstery...
hindi na yakal ang ginamit ko, i'm afraid that i might run out of whats left of my yakal.
nakareserve na kasi yung iba para sa curved back seat ng single seater...
marami pang trabaho...

O0 photograpghy naman ang interest mo ngayon ha, hehehe, 600d, an upgrade of 550 d model...

lucky for me, natabas ko na mga kahoy before mag tag-ulan...

marami pang tatrabahuhin, curved backseat pa at frame para sa upholstery, and then finishing.

mga tools ko rin nakabalot sa plastic, naaangihan din kasi ng ulan... :weathermanf3:

ang hirap din kasing magtabas ng kahoy pag umuulan...

goodluck on your new hobby...:samurai:

Re: arts and craft style sofa ( morris chair longer version )

Yow! It must hurt to cut wide planks to this!

bought it at wilcon balintawak 2 x 6 x 8 at 1,600 php...

Might look like a waste at first, but the nice thing about that shape is that if the two angled cuts per plank are parallel and done well (or if not, then cleaned up), the two resulting unused pieces can be glued together like a scarf joint and be reincarnated as a 2 x 3 or so.

Yakal and guijo are the cheapest of the salvaged, supposedly nail-free hardwoods available at Policarpio, priced at P70-80/bft (depending on width). If new yakal is P200/bft at Wilcon, I wonder if there is an opportunity somewhere there for anyone with the equipment and time...

If you are into buying from Wilcon Balintawak, there was also 2 x 12 x 4 laminated mahogany at P95/bft. I don't know if it is 'real' mahogany though, or what the difference is between real and non-real mahogany.
