Re: Balarila's Woodworking Attempts

Baka merong electronics expert dito, konting tulong, pls.

I snapped the shaft of my volume pot so balak kong palitan. I don't know what the specs so I'm hoping someone here can help me para makabili ako sa Deeco ng replacement. Here are some photos.

This is the backside of the volume pot:

And the front:

I think the label says B50k. Would that mean a dual-gang 50kOhm pot?

The tone controls look the same so baka palitan ko na rin:

All together now:

Medyo mahirap pala i-solder. Masikip. Pag na-chicken ako, super glue na lang.

Re: Balarila's Woodworking Attempts

Re: Balarila's Woodworking Attempts

Don't forget the "B". It specifies the progression of resistance as the pot is turned.

"B" is linear daw. While "C" is reverse logarithmic... daw.

"Daw" kasi na-google ko lang din. Hehehe.

Re: Balarila's Woodworking Attempts

Sa consumer electronics po "B" ang normal na ginagamit.I repair consumer electronics since 1990 wala pako na repair na C ang ginamit.best talaga sir dalin ung sample para pati size e sakto.

Re: Balarila's Woodworking Attempts

Kung papalitan mo ung mga potentiometers hanap ka ng ALPS. This is what modifiers use on this amp. Kung ala ka makita kahit ung sa Alexan na high end nila para maganda na at secured sa dust and contaminants. That will eliminate the scratching noise when you turn the knobs. Kung ala paring maganda try to check out TYSON ELECTRONICS along sumulong hiway bayan b4 you reach the stoplight of Marikina sports center. It's on your right after MINI-Stop yata yon or 7-11 coming from the foot of the Marikina bridge. Marami silang NOS na Pots na Japan made pa. sa Deeco unlesss you know the brand you need di sila masyado magaling maghanap. Kung ano nalang ang ibibigay sayo.

Re: Balarila's Woodworking Attempts

Salamat! Salamat!

This forum really rocks. I get info, directions, and encouragement.

I think I will super-glue the shaft for now. That should buy me time to look for top class pots. Alps, as suggested, double-gang, linear, 50 kOhms. Titingin na rin ako ng logarithmic. Kung papalitan rin lang, better to use good quality one that will last.

By gluing it would you mean that you intend to immediately test it after your build? My suggestion is to get that potentiometer and replace the old ones while you're at the project stage. That way the amp doesn't get too much exposure to tinkering minimizing damage especially the tubes w/c are very expensive and hard to replace. By the way, super glue is highly flammable so keep them away from your glowing tubes, in fact I'd rather not use them at all near these products.

Re: Balarila's Woodworking Attempts

Good advice, Willy.

Didn't know super glue is flammable.

Salamat!

Re: Balarila's Woodworking Attempts

Did some work on the amp casing. Had to do this while metalworking on my garage brackets para may "cover".

That's the amp casing. Wala pa yung case for the transformer at the top.

BTW, that table is the hall table. Aged with potassium dichromate then wiped on with green oil color. That's called the Greene & Greene finish, invented by the furniture company of the same name. I then wiped on oil on top of it. After some more oil, will wax.
