Re: bandsaw box

My suggestion is to give samples (or probably introductory prices) to your wife's friends or colleagues just to get them started and be hooked, just like viral marketing. When they're good, it would be easier now to negotiate a price specially when the ask for a custom made one.

Again, make the finished product first for you to be able to see how to value if from how it "looks" since that would be the main factor for buyers (specially women). No matter what joinery, tools, hard work, wood species you'd use - it will all boil down to how it looks - the finish.

My $.02

Re: bandsaw box

I plan to open up , perhaps a deidcated, online store for woodworking misc. items

Wherein I can have my works for sale, and i can have other items on consignment from fellow woodworkers, The consignment items i will just request a small percentage. I will be handling all the admin. well me and my wife... although both of us have fuill time jobs. If transaction traffic increases then we should be able to hire one person dedicated to customer inquiries and dispacthing from our house.

Naisip ko, all of us can open our own online store, but each of us have limited time to make a reasonable variety of products. So we can have one store with lots of products instead of 5 stores that are sparsely stocked.

This will at least have our community earn more raport and reputation. I am also sure this will spark much more creativity from our community.

This bandsaw box thing will be a uhhhh "flagship" item. my regular items will be small things like pen holders, name card holders and what nots and small items that can be sold for 50 php and be appreciated and at the same time make the effort of the woodworker payoff

So this band saw box will have some engravings on it. I have rotary tool for that. since this will be a flagship. it will be like the LEXUS LFA that sells for 500,000 $, and guess what.. toyota is selling it at almost near COST! they just made that to further fasten their dominance in the luxury sport auto market.

So pang ohhhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhh yung bandsaw box, as i expect another 12 hours of hand work on it. So kung may mag appreciate and bumili, then its good, IF not then it will be there to remind me the amount craft i need to excel on my works.
