Re: Bed Frame WIP

ingat lang sa stain directly on wood like Tanguille, I have encountered that it does blotch. you might be better of with stain and finish ng Ace (unfortunately though, I haven't tried it):havefun:

Re: Bed Frame WIP

I put in a few coats of shellac and sanded before applying the stain. I was anticipating the chances of blotching. My mistake was taking too long before wiping out the stain, thus it went darker than what I wanted.

Re: Bed Frame WIP

Did some clamping:

Tried Elmers wood glue this time, has a lot longer setting time than that of the Pioneer, gives me enough time to set and clamp the pieces properly.

Re: Bed Frame WIP

Hi bigfoot!

Did you stain first before gluing? If so, isn't shellac going to affect the bond strength of the glue?
Thanks!

Re: Bed Frame WIP

wow pictures!:shhh:

i see a good length of masking tape there brader...can we scoop the excess right after clamping so as to economize on tape?

sometime before, it occurred to me that even the masking tape application needs some great PATIENCE.:mad:

after gluing and clamping..would you further support the batter boards with screws?

rainy days here we come...longer glue up time!

did you shop for the mattress yet? can you give me an idea how much is a queen size 8" orthopedic? thanks..

Re: Bed Frame WIP

@joey

This part is still bare wood. I have only applied shellac and satin on the legs (pics to follow).

@doc V
As of now, no plans to add screws, I hope I don't need them. Thanks for the suggestion on reusing masking them. I still have side rails to glue up.

No problem with the glue up time for me, I'm taking my time on this one, too much time even. :p

As for the matress, I already have it. 54"x78"x6" (double), Uratex orthopedic foam at Php5,400.

Re: Bed Frame WIP

Nice one Timb. Sabi na nga mauna ka matapos e. Pero hassle ang finishing nga, its messy.

Re: Bed Frame WIP

Pwede! With minor adjustments in dimensions, design, height etc. That could work for me.

Pa-PM naman if magpapagawa ako sa iyo ng, let's assume, same bed muna. I'll do the finishing etc.
