Re: Colored Wood Stain?

Just tried the Fabric dye method suggested by sir Jarod, and it's a charm, it works! the grains of the ply really did raised!

Glad to hear it worked for you. You may control the darkness according to the number of coats you apply. Also, as DocV said, we'll be glad to see some pictures.

Re: Colored Wood Stain?

Here's the stained plywood. tested on a piece of scrap ply first. apparently, the plywood that i have is a whitish plywood kaya it really raised the grains. First i thought it was a maple ply but it's just a regular 1/8" ply. Planning to apply these on my Homemade Longboard decks to give it a good finish. Used the "Venus" blue fabric dye. only cost like P3.00 😀

Re: Colored Wood Stain?

Very nice, Ryan. I also went nuts when I found out how much those Venus dyes cost at National. Got a bunch of them but have not experimented yet. I assume you'll be putting some transparent/translucent coating on top of the dye-stain, e.g. Varnish. Do let us know how it turns out.
