Re: corner joints

Not sure what you mean sa "dumidikit". Malagkit ba pag naglalagari?

Baka sariwa pa ang kahoy. KD ba ang kinuha mo?

I occasionally saw by hand and I have a cheap short saw and a Stanley back saw. Ok naman ang experience ko. I also have a Japanese flexible saw and that is wonderful.

Palagay ko hindi gaanong luto ang pagka-KD.

Where's your workshop? I have a moisture meter.

Re: corner joints

siguro nga. kasi sinubukan ko ulit yung hand saw kanina sa 2x6 na kahoy, straight naman at di dumidikit. yung kahoy is actually my work bench, kasi wala pa akong work bench talaga. my workshop isa actually in the kitchen. dami pang space kaya took advantage of it. next project ko sigujro ang work bench. hirap na mag-lagari eh. 🙂

Re: corner joints

I ended up making a supplies/display cabinet instead. i was able to make use of my jigsaw for the mortises for the frame. attached is the work in progress na ginagamit na namin, plus my dining table build with laminate and glass as top. nakakahiya ang gawa ko pero post ko na rin para makapulot ng suggestions for improvement.

Re: corner joints

What's this na parang tumulo sa gilid?

BTW, the classic way to build table legs is to have the sides tenoned into the legs where the legs have mortise slots. Hindi ba umuuga yung legs? Those screws kasi, in time, baka mag-wobble.

Here's a sam[ple of a leg of the table I recently worked on:

Here's how the sides of the table was connected to the legs.

Re: corner joints

elmer's carpenter's glue yun balarila. 🙂 linagyan ko ng generous amount sa top at 2 sides, then screwed on the top and 2 sides as well. maganda naman po ang outcome dahil hindi umuuga. di ko alam bakit di ko naisipan yung mortise and tenon nun. 🙂

i have a baby on the way nga pala. tingin ko bibili pa ako ng plyboards pa para sa next project, diaper changing station na may drawers. 🙂

nakakaadik

Re: corner joints

Rosy is right, Dogman.

Re-reading my response, I sounded too harsh. My intent is sincerely to help, not criticize. And I started the same way as you did. Screwed on (no joinery) projects.

On the Elmers Glue, I suggest having a spray bottle with water and rag handy. Great for cleaning glue squeeze-outs.

Looking forward to your diaper changing station!

Re: corner joints

I used to own that router. It's solidly built and heavy. Feels very much like a real Makita. Maktec, BTW, is the value-line of Makita. It's a no-frills router: no LED, no soft start. One thing I did not like about it is that it did not have a flat head. You may think that's trivial but a router with a flat head is very convenient when changing bits.

I would recommend looking at Skil, which is the value-line of Bosch. They have a model that has a soft start and LED with a flat head. Someone complained that the depth-stop is too flimsy. Well, nothing's perfect in value-lines.

If you go for Skil, try contacting Golden (Maranan), member of this forum as he gives good deals on Bosch equipment.

If you go Maktec, I got mine at Irwin Hardware in Bangkal, Makati (near Pasay) You may want to compare prices.
