Hi everyone,

How can I cut canals in lumber (like a 2x2) without using a router?

I have a number of simple wood projects that I would like to do but they require cutting canals in the wood, (either from end to end or just a few inches inward) and I don't have a router to make the cut.

Thanks.

You can use a cutter and mark the boundaries of area to be cut, then pare away with a chisel.... Or you can buy or make a router plane which isn't powered and should make the dado or grooves easier to level.

Thanks for the tips! I haven't heard of a router plane before so I looked it up. I hope the hardware stores in my area have it.

Unless you are in the US, I doubt you will find one locally...
You can go online look for "toothed widow" and you will find ways to make one out of an allen wrench and several pieces of wood...

Hi, not sure if you find a way to do this, but if you have not, then you can make a simple router using a chisel. Search mo ang "Poor man's router by Paul Seller" in the net. He has a UTube video on how to do it.

Good luck!

Hey bro RedBird,

Thanks for this tip on Paul Sellers, watched his You Tube video and its really that easy and so simple to make that poor man's hand router.

Anyway I will post the link so that others may be able to watch, I know this will be very useful to other wood workers here. Plus there were more videos of Paul that I think are worth watching.:cool01:

@Rosy, the poor mans router is so simple to make. Pwede natin modify using straight edge stock to make it with similar functionality as katam. Useful also in making tenons.

You can go to the GAZEBO Forum, check out the sticky thread on " Tutorials on how to upload pics from photobucket " .

Its like this bro, once picture is taken, upload the pic to your computer then copy first to your folder, then batch process sa computer, resizing the image, then transfer to your photobucket account and from there you can now upload by clicking the IMG link to your post reply.

Online education provides the suitability of time flexibility a student can login and logout as per his desire. the dissertationteam review does not provide such flexibility in learning. Flexibility of online education allows the student control over their studies.
