Re: Dining cabinet build

No rest day even on a Sunday when schedule is tight...
gave the carcass a coat of poly and the top two coats of shellac.

installed the doors...

used concealed hinges and spacer blocks. turned out well but still needs adjustment. that gets done later...

master timb, are those hinges half-lap?
do you used a jig, shopmade or bought, in installing the concealed hinges ?

any tips ?

i love those cabinet doors, flat panel, napaka simple, but elegant...

those are full or overlap lang, the face frame is marginally larger than 3/4" that is why they do appear like half lap hinges.
I don't use a jig, I just set up the drill press for the correct setting using a scrap first. then stop block lang for the correct locations.

Re: Dining cabinet build

no holiday excuse for me and with Jarod's help we accomplished these.

shelves dry fitting

and the drawer sides dovetailed.

still need clean up, that happens tomorrow... maybe the false fronts and the rest gets finished....:saiyan:

Re: Dining cabinet build

little done today, had other things to attend to.
got the drawer bottoms installed and glued the joints and cleaned the excess.

applied 1st coat of water based poly on the shelves

drawer internals also got some poly together with the short shelf materials.

not a bad day altogether though could have done much more....

Re: Dining cabinet build

what a day... started making the short shelves and installed them as well, plus had the false fronts cut and nailed in place.

made stops for the drawers.

and finished the drawers and shelves with a coat of wb poly.

Re: Dining cabinet build

the fronts were bored for the handles.

and they do look nice with dovetails

mocked the handles as this needs another coat of poly tomorrow and the back material cut and installed.

then it gets crate and shipped to Cebu. Hopefully all by tomorrow.

Re: Dining cabinet build

another long day, but a happy one. Sprayed the final coat of poly (I just remembered how much I love my Asturo gun). then assembled and made a crate for it.

a cabinet build is useless unless the drawers and cabinets are seen. So here they are.

Re: Dining cabinet build

Forgot to add some vital information. the cabinet is screwed to the base of the crate and is covered with cartons for extra protection for the top and doors....

Re: Dining cabinet build

@timber,

ang bilis naman matapos nyan! in-asturo mo na naman kasi!

may i know how much yung freight from here to cebu for the whole crate?

must be heavy considering the weight of the mahogany.

congrats to another well made commissioned work!
