Its time to replace my flimsy malaysian made dining table.
Started this project a long time ago....
milling my mahogany stocks. using a router sled for i dont have a jointer.

after milling several flanks... then Proceeded to edge jointing.

then.... after the glue died... Planing again the wider board.

im using a 1-1/4" freud mortising bit

Re: Dining Table

This is going to be a massive project..what's the table top dimension Fortnapz?

Ganda ng Mahogany mo ah..very solid looking wood.

Tanong lang, straight glue up lang ba yung edge-to-edge joint ng planks? meron ba syang half-lap joinery or tongue and groove (t/g) ..or did you add pocket screws to strengthen the joints?

Looking forward to the finishing stage. 😉

Re: Dining Table

Glueing. using Tite bond III

Then after the glue dries, install the screw rail(no pic during installation/glueing)on short rail only. got the idea from matthias on his table.

Re: Dining Table

Sanding

what I've noticed when using 240 grit sanding belt, lulundag lundag ang sander, dahil siguro sa seam ng belt. pero ok naman pag coarser grit up to 120.

Trim the edges using quarter round bit, and sanding by hand.

then tried refined linseed oil by treasure island.

Very nice table fortnapz and with all the wood grains showing everywhere, walang binatbat yang Malaysian made table. Final topcoat na lang kulang to preserve the wood and grains.

I bet everyone in your house will be happy with the final result specially si swimbo mo, hehehe !!

Congrats bro for a job well done !:2thumbsup:
