Re: Doweling
Darn! And I ordered a packetful from Amazon!
Not necessarily a waste or unnecessary. Depends on what you need or want vs. what is available locally. Hafele only has fluted dowel pins, metric, and only 6 and 8 mm. At Y2K (supposedly To Suy equivalent in San Juan), I saw only 10 x {40, 50} mm. Havent' checked the screw stores in Binondo -- anyone know if they have non-metric like 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, etc. or long smooth (rods) as opposed to short fluted (pins)?
Even if what you want is available locally, getting online could give you useful info -- e.g., quality/accuracy comparison.
The hobby store mentioned in the below thread had only 1/4" and 3/8" x 48" dowel rods and only limited stocks last I checked. These 'basswood' dowels are like the ones from Home Depot (US). I found the Home Depot ones to be about 0.3+ mm undersized -- may be good for glue situations but not so good in usages where tight fit (<0.1 mm) required.

Tip: Easy way to search forum is to google 'pinoyhandyman '
There is a Search function in forum but Google seems to work better for simple keyword searches.
