Re: Drafting Table Build

Nice work on the drafting table bro, just hope it doesn't wobble. Anyway is there a catch or a groove inside the top frame provided for the frosted glass coz I can't see any or maybe its my eyes. If you will really install a frosted glass on top, may I suggest you install also one or two 18 or 20 watts fluorescent lights under that frame, I am assuming the purpose of that frosted glass is for some tracing purposes, that is what we use it for when I was still working in an advertising agency, though I have a smaller one too in my studio. Oh I forgot if in case you will install some light underneath the frosted glass, you will have to add or construct also an additional box, same size as the frame of the frosted glass, that is where you will attach your lighting system.

You can easily buy your clear or frosted 2' X 3' glass at those glass and aluminum stores stores, be specific to get a 3/8" thick or at least 1/4" thick glass.

HOPE THIS HELPS bro !!! 😉

Re: Drafting Table Build

Thanks Rosy.

Iniisip ko pa how to secure the glass (or acrylic?) top, pwede parang bar clamp type mechanism or pwede din velcro. It's stable, no wobble, it's glued and screwed.

Also, definitely putting lighting underneath once I get the glass top - madali lang naman yung "cradle" to hold the lighting fixture(s). For now, drawing board muna.

Re: Drafting Table Build

My only problem with acrylic top is it easily gets scratches during use though it may be lighter than the glass top but for me I'd still prefer the thick glass top, smoother surface to work on. 😉

Re: Drafting Table Build

Salamat Bugel. Yes kreg jig ginamit ko.

Sa tingin ko pwede wala ng glue kapag ang gamit mo ay yung kreg screws talaga kasi it really pulls the pieces together. I don't use the kreg screws, I use the black wood screws - pero the black screws don't pull the pieces together. What I do is I apply glue, clamp the pieces togethers and screw. 🙂
