hello to all. good day. I've been wondering how i can finish the edges of my plywood furniture project without hiding the layers with edge bands and solid wood edging. I searched the web and found this image of a baltic birch plywood. They actually were able to make a good finish.
I wonder if we can also do this to the locally available plywoods in the phils. Please help me do it. Thanks.
Re: finishing plywood edges
Our "local" plywoods don't look that nice.
If you really want BB plywood, try to get in touch with another member here, timber715. He knows the local source of BB plywood.

try to apply clear varnish then sand in between coats
Re: finishing plywood edges
As joey81 said above "local plywoods don't look that nice"; no matter how many coats of varnish you apply to the edges, they will still look ugly in the end.
What cabinet makers normally do is put wood edge band or veener edge band. Your local hardware store has this "liston" that measures 1/4" x 3/4" that you can use as edge band. You attach them to the edges by using brad nails or 1/2" inch finishing nails. Just be sure you bury the nail heads and apply putty before finishing your project.
Or you can go to Wilcon and buy Vinyl edge band (measuring about 1/6" x 3/4") and choose the color that suits your need. They can be bought by the meter and can be applied with contact cement.
