Re: getting the feel of woodworking

Is this your first build? Will you be making a workbench later? If you are, try to have the wookbench as your first project. It will give you room for mistakes and you can get a lot of experience from it. The plan you showed maybe a little big for a beginner, but it depends on your skill level.

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.

Mark, I'm not sure if enclosing the TV space will not allow the air to circulate that freely.

As bigfoot said, this project needs to be almost perfect as this would encase a lot of valuable/expensive items. Unless you have enough practice, better go build a skill set through a workbench or something that may allow you some room for mistakes.

Just my $.02

Yes sir, this will be my first project and workbench will be my second project.

workbench was my first choice because i want to recycle the woods that are piled in my garage, my problem was i want my workbench to be as gorgeous as the project you masters made

Re: getting the feel of woodworking

You may then just create the saw horses and assembly table that you'll need when dry fitting the parts. This way, you'll have some practice na din as well not only in the wood but on the tolls themselves.

Always be safe.

Re: getting the feel of woodworking

sir unychorn,

mukhang pareho pala tayo ng plan ah , kasi I want to do some DIY cabinet projects especially more on MDF projects sana like the works of Master Bryant sana hahahha (i wish)

sabihin ko na na near to zero kasi yun skills ko pagdating sa woodworking ,kaya eto look, learn and wish na muna , compile ng mga wish list na tools .

i agree with the masters have said , ako nga rin baka try ko muna gawa siguro saw horse and workbench muna.

kung pwede nga sana ko humabol ng sulat ke santa e para makapag start na ko ng mga plans ko.hahahaha

Go go go na lang tayo sir , me call a friend naman tayo dito e, hehehehehe ay post a friend pala 🙂

I have 0 or negative skill, in making my 1st project I have determination, lots of prayers, hopefully a bunch of luck and Im confident Ill be guided by the masters here at pinoyhandyman.

My project will commence after the long weekend, sawhorses first.

Re: getting the feel of woodworking

Try to get a feel of using your tools, I spent the whole afternoon squaring a few pcs of plywood with a circular saw, or maybe my skill level is a big negative. 😀

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.

Re: getting the feel of woodworking

@unychorn

for projects like this you will need pipe clamps or any long clamps that will hold the pieces during glue up..but if you'll be using finishing nails to assemble the boards just ignore my suggestion.. 🙂

Re: getting the feel of woodworking

sir bigfoot,
With your experience and it took you the whole afternoon squaring a few pcs of plywood with a circular. Now my moral is going down, hehehe.

sir Armand,
My plan is to finish it with glue and nails, but i dont know if its the right path.
