Re: getting the feel of woodworking

if you think bigfoot's experience makes you moral dip, try making your project without practice and see what waste you can produce... lol.
in this craft, one really needs hands on practice. That is the only way to be better....

Re: getting the feel of woodworking

Sir Mark, I'm not worried about your skill but on your power tools instead. These demands respect and will hurt you even for a split second if you're unaware. Sorry to say but there are no room for mistakes in power tools, just small dumb luck if I may say.

I do hope that the rhythm of the group doesn't drag you down, we are just concerned for your safety primarily. I have already seen accidents from well experienced people so safety is more of a concerned to those who are starting like me as well.

Best if you may read/watch tutorials so as to have an idea. When starting at a craft, technical info for me is has more weight than hands-on experience as it may teach you the correct techniques and shoe possible pitfalls so you may not need to harm yourself before learning your mistake. Once you have an info, experience will be a better journey I believe.

Good luck on your project and start a thread to post your WIPs (Work In Progress) so that you can ask help from the craftsmen here just in case you feel the need to.

Re: getting the feel of woodworking

Don't let my comments drag you down, my experience in ww is only a double bed which took me more than 6 months to finish. It's to give you a reality of things to expect and prepare for it.

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.

Re: getting the feel of woodworking

tatanong ko nga din kung how much yung skil router..hehe

ala bang bosch router ang panda? maybe meron pero hindi ko alam kung anung model meron sila..

i want the plunge...1/2" collet kahit fixed speed lang..

that skil is 1200watts? so thats about 1 1/2HP right?

thanks

@unychorn,

si brader bigfoot naman kasi..busy sa work niya kaya it took him that long to finish the bedframe..

kung solid weekend hours eh quick lang yung cabinet build mo..

give it a month...

kaya planning is rewarding in the end..besides saving materials for unplanned cutting here and there..

since may router kana, this is the point of no return..meaning...ihanda mo na bulsa mo..jejejeje

Rizal avenue in Caloocan is almost T. Alonzo na rin. Daming store ng power tools pero kalat sila mas madami kasi ang store for motorcycle parts. Our company sources most of our parts and tools dito sa Rizal avenue. My micro-V belt for my jointer build was bought from this area.

But i can't tell if the prices here for the tools are cheaper than Binondo.
