Re: Guitar Rack

Is this rack only for electric and thin body guitars? Looks to me that the neck slots are all of equal spacing.

it should accomodate 6 electric and one acoustic (tama ba yung term?). if you can see the neck portion righthand side, it has a wider starting point. yun yung para sa acoustic guitar...

Re: Guitar Rack

I wanted the same color, finish and effects as the sides. so I cut the neck rest to shape on the rt. glued and clamped...

after clamping, I checked the glue coverage... perfect lang...

Re: Guitar Rack

so before I cut the top part to shape, it is best I stabilize it with a coat of finish. but still needing to stain before it... so here it is before and after staining...

Re: Guitar Rack

when the stain dried, I applied a coat of water-based poly...

here is the reason why I needed to stabilize the veneer... it is very thin and fragile...

Re: Guitar Rack

meeting the guys earlier is so refreshing that continuing the rack wasn't difficult.
after a quick nap and a long mass, I start off by reducing the waste material on the scrollsaw before going to the rt.

ran the round-over bit on the inner parts of the neck part and laid-out the profile for the ends. I made a template way back when I was not busy with different round sizes, then with a knife I marked the piece.

now the difficult part, freehand cutting on the scrollsaw. and since I want a tight cut, i used a microscope.... hahahaha

I later cut the excess from the other edge, it was an inch more than I needed to keep my options open. and since the seminar was so inspiring I used my jigsaw, Bosch syempre...

Re: Guitar Rack

cleaned with a handplane and rounded over the rest of the corners 1st cut...

then with the correct sized router bit, I cut the final profile... top and bottom.

first coat of poly applied.

cleaning will follow and two more coats of poly... my plan is to keep the area that contacts the guitar neck as little as possible to prevent accidental damage...

cheers

Re: Guitar Rack

cleaned, sanded and coated with poly, then the same process again twice more until I was satisfied with the feel and finish.

assembled na...

made some plugs for the screw head cover...

and applied poly.
