I've started this project around 4 years ago and it's still a WIP. booo!!!
Basically it's an old cheap bass guitar screwed to an old amplifier baffle meant to be a lamp. hahaha. The lamp sits (or should sit) on top of the head of the bass with the switch in one of the potentiometers of the bass - dimmer switch.
Problem: bass is nowhere near stable - wobbles like a bull!
What I did was just plainly screw the bass into the baffles. I know, genius. 😛
Re: Help on this long forgotten project, please
just as with any baffles, it's made with MDF or in this case, looks like LDF.
The plan is to make a "support" out of wood that should hold the bass so it will stand 90 degrees on its own.
Not sure if this is a very good plan. I'm still not convinced that this will work perfectly. I need any ideas on how to make this bass guitar stand on top of the baffles. Thanks so much! 🙂
Re: Help on this long forgotten project, please
Will that wood block at the back of the guitar (at the lower portion) be screwed at the base and the guitar itself ??? There is another way to support the guitar using a 2" flat bar mild steel. You can have it made at a welding shop, you can make a triangular shape support that can be screwed at the base (this is the shorter one probably 4" or 6" provided with 2 or 3 holes for screws) and then at the back of the guitar (this is the longer bar, about 10" or 12" also provided with holes for screws). For its finish, you can sprat paint it black or red.
Still remember the 12" plastic triangles we usually buy at bookstores ? Its similar to that, or you can cut a piece of 3/4" plywood, cut to the shape of a triangle. spray paint for finishing, then apply wood glue or epoxy on the sides that will be attached to the base and back of the guitar, also drill some screws there to strengthen guitar.
Perhaps this could help !!! :studsmatta: 😉

When you say wobble, it i front to back or side to side? When it wobbles, does it bring the wood on the am with it?

Yes Ton, almost very similar, but that is only a bracket, I'd prefer to put a decorative gusset on the bracket, perhaps a G Clef or a double big note that can be screwed or glued to the metal bracket so when it is seen at the back, meron ding design still in relation with the instrument. :rockf:
I guess the guitar won't wobble anymore to the front or back, provided too that the base where it will be screwed is sturdy or hard enough so the screws or bolts can be tightened properly.
