Im new to woodworking especially in wood staining. Others said you need to apply wood conditioner first before staining so the wood will absorb the stain equally or para hindi mangitim yung wood? Wala akong makintang wood contioner dito eh??

Thanks!!

Try Timbermate. It's water soluble and when you water it down to the consistency of sloppy mud, you can have it fill the pores of Tanguile. Then you can stain it.

Try on a small piece first so you can see if you like the result.

I regularly use Boysen Alkyd Oil based wood filler..i thin it down with paint thinner and add tinting color of my choice. I apply it using a used protractor or an old plastic card. Once dried and sanded I then apply the sanding sealer.

Your title header said Tanguile, What color are you planning to use? If it is dark colored then no need for conditioners. This variety of wood has very little grain detail and is almost often treated with light to medium colorant to highlight whatever cognizable grain there is. A good oil base stain as a grain enhancer can help. If you will use lacquer or Polyurethane then you may have to seal the wood first with a sanding sealer then apply a Non grain raising stain or NGR's to control color then seal again before you apply topcoat. Good luck.

The bigger Wilcons carry them. I know that the one on C5 has them in various colors to match the wood that you use.

wood conditioner is the proper term and if you want to have a balanced stain. wood sealer from the word itself "sealer" use after stain to protect especially from moisture. but, basically if you have a good quality wood finish hindi mo na kailangan ng sealer, your finish can act as your sealer i.e polyurethane, lacquer etc.

Re: Help: what to apply before staining tanguile wood?

Pwedeng pwede.

Where do you get your wood conditioner and shellac? Are they available locally?
