Hello to all,

Any suggestion po.
Please help. Thanks..

Re: How to fix this door

well, first of all you have to fix the door itsel. it isn't for the weak hearted though. the gaps are caused by the wood expansion and (not sure) weak construction, what you can do first is remove the door and check for movement or loose parts of it. check also that it is square. it seems to have moved out of square though. the critical joints are the ones connecting the ends to the cross members, make sure that the glue is intact and that the wood is not soft. if the wood is soft, well there isn't much option for repair since it will move again. if it is hard, you can inject glue to the joints and clamp the portions with cross members. clamp tight! it should pull it back to shape.
I really don't like installing metals on wooden doors nor to ruin the look of a nice door, but if all else fails and you just need funtionality, you can wedge the bottom corner(away from the hinge side) to raise it and add wood or metal to reinforce the cross members and hold it in place.

Re: How to fix this door

Thanks for the reply sir Timber..

Sana makahanap ako ng expert dito sa banda nmin to look into the matter. Wala din kasi akong tools.. mga basic lang, martilyo, ganun...

As for the materials needed like the wood glue, pwede na ba ung Stikwel? Or may mas maganda pang glue product? Thanks..

Re: How to fix this door

Hi Angelo,

I got your PM. Timber is a better person the answer your problem and good thing he already did 🙂

now going to stick well. I HATE that thing. its hard to use and definitely almost impossible to inject into crevices made by weak joints

I use pioneer wood glue. Elmer also has a wood glue. The pioneer glue is white not beige like stikwell and flows more freely than the sticky tacky stikwel. Hence it can be used to inject, just grab a syringe if the crevice is too small.

Grab a syringe but dont use the needle tip. Just use a bare tip. it should flow

pioneer wood glue instruction states that it holds the glued pieces just after 30 minutes and IT DOES! but for full curing leave it 24 hours.

Stikwell dont dry that quick and i suspect the hold isnt as good either

Re: How to fix this door

None of these glues, Stikwel, Elmer's Wood Glue, Bostik Evo-Stik, etc. say on their container what they are made of. Only Rakoll admits ("one-component water-resistant PVA"). Evo-Stik and Rakoll claim compliance with "EN 204-D3".

Aren't these all the same thing, PVA? Or do the manufacturers put in their own secret ingredients to differentiate themselves performance-wise? It sounds like there are differences in viscosity and color and waterproofness, but full cure time is always 24 hr or "overnight", no? How about on holding power?

Re: How to fix this door

I think I have the same problem:

This will be a good test for my el-cheapo pipe clamp. Problem is, my 3/4 G.I. pipes don't have threads! 🙁
