Re: How to remedy cupped boards?
ok..i'll try that if exposing it to sunlight doesn't work..
Re: How to remedy cupped boards?
using your picture, notice the lines I drew left the boards flat... gluing them back with squared sides will leave you a squared board or very close...
I would cut them this way. of course it is so much easier on the ts
hahah i was already imagining cutting it on the ts...

Re: How to remedy cupped boards?
you dont have to cut the boards lengthwise..think of what made them cupped in the first place..there is still moisture in there (even if they are kd) and when you exposed them to sunlight/heat, they cupped...a kd isnt 100% dry.
what you do is wet them and stack them again flat supported by sawhorsespreferably (or just on the floor) and in an area where they can be dried with domes butted against each other.. get some clamps..wait for sometime and then inspect.
i did this on a cupped 1 x 12 boards..but it was last summer.
(but i reckon this might not work out during the wet season...mine didnt flat out but at least the cupping became less.
one advantage, you dont loose the symmetry of the grains.

I actually did not6 expose them to heat. I think it was the rain and humidity that did it.
How wet did you get the wood before you clamped them together?
Re: How to remedy cupped boards?
i clamped them flat first then i sprayed a bit of water in the cupped areas and around it..better if you can apply heat..in this time of year, i am thinking of a 100 watt bulb..hmmm. getting expensive now..haha
