Ever since ive started staining and finishing, lauan is always the dire pain because the open grains get too dark and you get lots of dark short streaks that if is not incorporated into the design... looks unsightly
is there a way to get the open grain to match with the closed grain?
I have some ideas but was hoping to avoid the pain of trial and error 🙂
Re: how to uniform stain open grains and closed grain in tanguile/lauan?
the tung oil I got from ZAR works as a sealer Ben, coat the wood first with tung oil or sanding sealer, then apply the stain as a glaze, everything should come out even. try it in scrap first if it works for you...
