Re: Jonathancruz WW contest entry

an anti climax!

the nature of the project came to me as real surprise in the end....i dont know if some of the blurred pictures posted were intentional..haha!

was this your own idea bro or copied elsewhere? hindi naman yata bawal mangopya...tsaka wala sa judging criteria yung "originality"...

great and artistic project!

its going to be a tough competition timber! har! har!

hehehe, succesful pala, kaya hindi ko muna sinasabi contest piece ko...the pics, blurred talaga, wala kasi ako mahagilap na tutulong sakin na mag take ng pics.well about the project.combo sir, nilagyan ko na lang ng arte.i modified it.especially the joints,it's my own idea.i push all my mathematical prowess to the limit(i hate math)puro numbers pa naman sa hobby nato, walang kawala sa math.back to the joints,it took me some days to end up with the idea palang, and then in doing it,very careful talaga,1st time to make this kind of joint(nails & screw lang kasi ako sanay)kaya nga nung nakita ko mga projects dito sa forum,i'm amazed, dovetails, boxjoints, dowels to name a few, grabe talaga...naku muntik ko ng hindi matapos tong project nato, ang queen(swmbo ba yon) nagtatampo, hindi napapansin,hahaha...totoo very addicting tong hobby nato from projs to tool buying...thanks sir,it was a major major appreciation of the compliments...how are you na pala doc?

Re: Jonathancruz WW contest entry

Hi Jon,

Just a word of caution, It may be a good idea to put a fire retardant coat on your holder. Linseed oil is a very flammable material. Boiled version where in chemicals are added to raw linseed oil makes BOL more combustible. Also, make sure to properly dispose the rags/applicator you used in applying BOL in your work. There are a lot of online material safety data sheet (MSDS) that precautions the usage and handling of such chemical.

This is not to discredit the work of Jon, I am just a concerned member and his entry is still and truly a valid one in any way. I hope not to be misunderstood. Besides, this is a community wherein one of the main core is safety so I wish for the safety of all.

Re: Jonathancruz WW contest entry

Yes.

i overlooked the potential hazard.

BLO is a penetrating oil and like paraffin, is combustible.

It also came as a suprise to me when he used blo as his finish rather than using something common. But forgot to comment.

Point well taken bro.

Re: Jonathancruz WW contest entry

yes doc and sir jarod i am fully aware of the no.1 cons of the BLO,i have taken note of it.dont worry the rags that i used are well disposed of properly(in plastic bag soaked with water)and i put the BLO container on a well ventilated area, well away from anything that will easilly set fire when the BLO spontaneously combust...and since sir timber allows the use of BLO,hardwood oil & sanding sealer.i use the BLO,since it is the only coat i have available on hand.thanks for all your concern mga sir.
