last year i found some interesting wood planks from a flooring supply.
i was told that they were "philippine rosewood" but after doing some research it turns out that they were not true rosewoods. not even close. the most common name for it was "toog"
but i didnt care, they were quartersawn so i had them cut in half for a book match:
Re: lacote guitar build
i had a redwood top to go with the toog
Re: lacote guitar build
after running through my drum sander it's time to brace the top. i used a fanned brace design
sides bent and glued
back braced
back glued

Re: lacote guitar build
Wow, getting it done. Congratulations on the newborn.
Question: What's the box looking thing on the lower bout peeking through the soundhole?
And what has been your favorite build in the 15+ you've made?
Re: lacote guitar build
thanks for the kind words 🙂
its not that easy to make one, but its not that hard either, if you know what i mean...hehe
that box? its for the battery of the active pickups. i really don't like to put more holes on the sides (for tonal and structural reasons) so i just made a compartment inside.
my favorite is always the latest one built. this is for my brother, he paid me a bottle of single malt whiskey for it. i couldnt accept payment from him so he came up with a better payment plan hehehe
but i do have a place in my heart for that 8 string. its my main guitar
now i need to finish that ukulele and start prepping the materials for a flamenco guitar 🙂
