nothing fancy, just a letter holder to keep the bills in order...
the bottom still to follow, so far I am just finishing the frame...

the finish is shellac rubbed down to a french polish...

warning lang about using shellac...

once you get the finish come to life, it becomes very addicting...

Re: letter holder for MIL

it was available back then in cans with brand named Zinisser Shellac and was sold at True Value. unfortunately it is no longer available locally. what we use is the shellac flakes dissolved in denatured alcohol which we imported from the US.
we will be importing again soon. yes I will be very soon and you can order in advance just in case. will post details in the online items thread later tonight.

Re: letter holder for MIL

the holder takes only small sized envelops, so I need to make another for the bigger ones... but since I don't have Dao for that dimension, I decide to use Narra instead. start by cleaning the stock, but no matter what I do, I find it very difficult to clean the face...

so I applied shellac to stiffen the wild grain then sand again...

now its so smoooth you wouldn't believe it... 😮

Re: letter holder for MIL

the initial board did not pass my scrutiny so I used another board to get to this...

30 minutes and several coats of shellac later...

Turn me green in envy. Wish I could do the same.
