Hi everyone. I've been wondering to start a small wood workshop since my warehouse is renovated and added an extra space. I need some wood working tools and equipment for some of my DIY.

what I need for now are these: Drill press, mini or baby lathe, carbide tools for lathe machine, band saw sand papers (specifically high grits from 1200 - 12000) other woodworking hand tools like planer, carving tools clamps, bench vise and varnishes or wax for finishing.

I might study a bit more on dangerous equipments like the miter or table saw because it will be my first time to work with these tools. Need to learn more from the pros in actual before purchasing it.

what are your recommended brand and where to find cheap or reasonable price for these. Im located In San Pedro Laguna.

Thanks a lot! 🙂

Lots of them sa OLX or sa Facebook, join groups of Power Tools for Sale or
Bentahan ng Power Tools. Bosch, Makita, DeWalt, and Skil, these are good brands
but medyo may presyo. Maybe you can start with Skil or Black and Decker or Ryobi
kung cheap ang mga gusto mong power tools.

Good luck sa passion mo for woodworking !!:goodluck:

I've been using DEWALT tools ever since and it survived hard falls, extreme beatings and still does the job as of today. I highly recommend this brand.

I've been using Hilti products like TE-2 hammer drills, cordless drills, and cordless grinders, DeWalt speed cutters (like a miter saw but used to cut steel)Â*I use them for my industrial and general construction since its my line of business on mechanical industry particularly in HVAC. I also tend to find old tools at our old workshop like Bosch 13RE drill and angle grinder GWS8 I find them very hard to use because they're too bulky. The only thing i can use so far is my cordless drill and the angle grinder wherein im still unsure if i can use the grinder to cut wood. I also find an old makita planer, drill press and table saw all of them works but the im not sure about the table saw because it is modified and it rattles so loud. Its so old.

Can I use the grinders or the cutter as a substitute to a saw? And do i still need a sander when i have a planer? And what do i miss?

I found old tools because my late grand father used to hire paete wood carvers and craftsmen to make us good quality furnitures. (Molave, kamagong, and other hardwood) i might send photos of their work.

thanks a lot 🙂

Hello Tekinex, this 5 must have woodworking tools will help you out. So here's my recommendations.
Rockler® 3-Way Face Clamp
Kreg Jig® R3
Wood Lathe
Compound Miter Saw
Jointer

This are the tools that I've used when I started my woodworking. If you want more information on how great they are, I made some research and found a good blog that has a lot of information. https://www.joineryplans.com/blog/5-must-have-woodworking-tools-for-every-advanced-carpenter/

Whether beginning a workshop from scratch or enhancing an existing one, few woodworkers will come up with the same workshop tools wish lists. Most often the priority is either a table saw, band saw, or radial arm saw, followed by equipment to dress up lumber, such as a planer, lathe, and drill press. From there on, the material you’ll want will depend to a huge degree on the projects you end up building most often. When its time for woodworking I use Dewalt tools. Like Dewalt hammer drill, bench vise, oscillating tool, Scroll saw, Reciprocating saw and so more.
I found this tools review in here.

Raon, Quiapo are the best places. Forget the online rubbish. You have to really hunt in old Manila, though. Expect to spend a day at least and wear super comfortable walking shoes

In my opinion, it is better to buy pre-owned tools with good condition. However, if you want new tools then you should see any online store like Amazon or eBay. In addition for your convenience, I am sharing the reviews of these brand tools here.

See detailed buyer guide of mini metal lathe here https://101tooladvisor.com/best-mini-metal-lathe/

Though I am sharing the reviews of some top drill presser here https://healthyhandyman.com/best-drill-presses-for-woodworking/ but in my opinion, you can see if any used tool is available from the top brand because I think as a beginning, it is little expensive.

If you are looking for coping saws then I would recommend you to go with small ones from here https://homegearx.com/best-coping-saw/ because I have some bad experience with big coping saws as a DIYer.

In addition, to explore more about woodworking tools, my suggestion says that you should work as an internee at a nearby woodshop to get experience with different tools because the work of a DIYer and a professional varies.
