Someone on the chat room requested me to post my WIP.

It's been a month I'm very busy cutting/assembling & installing MDF boards for kitchen, closet, cabinets. I already consumed 40+ sheets of 4'x8' boards.

Only this time ko lang naisipan to take pics of my work.

MDF waste starts to pile up.

My Messy workshop.

Re: MDF Boards Projects

@leoneboy

This one is for business. Ginagamit ko for home use yun mga excess boards pag may free time. Most of the kitchen cabinet na nakikita mo sa home depot MDF ang ginagamit. If you use plywood or plyboard kailangan mo pa ipaint or adhere some laminate to achieve nice finish.

@Jarod
I use PVC Edge Band white, 1mm thick for the carcass & 2mm thick for the door edging.
Manual lang yun paglalagay ng edge band. Trim the edge using GMR1 Bosch & flush cut router bit with bearing then use the chisel to remove the sharp edge. Wala pa kse budget sa Edge banding & trimmer machine.

Cost:
MDF 18mm 2Face White - P1,530/sheet
MDF 15mm 2face White - P1,365/sheet
MDF 3mm 1F white - P600/sheet
PVC Edge Band 1mm - P11/m
PVC Edge Band 2mm - P18/m
Multiform Laminate - P710/sheet
Multiform Adhesive - P550/gal
Hinge Soft Close - P100/pc
Drawer Guide - P220/pair
handle Stainless - P280/pc

Re: MDF Boards Projects

Wow, thanks for the info bryant! I think the extra premium would justify the faster build and prepared finish based on the usage. The reason why I asked I have seen a video that also uses laminated MDFs and was amazed on the turn-around time. It may not have the classic wood finish btu I guess it would really depend on the project's purpose.

Keeping on the topic of MDF projects, could you share more on your experiences when dealing with MDF in terms of tools, supplies, safety gears, curing time, assembly precautions etc.

Very rare do we get to see a project and most specially someone close to the community who really builds and makes a living out of it so it would be a great opportunity to the community to learn from you in your most convenient time. We would also like to see more pics if you may in your next projects 😀

Re: MDF Boards Projects

Beautiful. Simply beautiful.

Do MDF boards weigh less or more than plywood of same thickness? I have some plywood closet doors done by karpinteros that keep falling off the piano hinges either because the doors weigh to much or the hinges used were inappropriate.

@JayL, Bo Concept inspire me more.

MDF Cabinets best match with glass and stainless steel.

@Balarila
MDF weigh more than plywood or plyboard. For MDF qty of hinge to be used is determined by the size of the door.

Re: MDF Boards Projects

I started making MDF Cabinets way back 2007 with "zero" knowledge. After some research & scrutinizing how this cabinet was made and tell to my self "I can do it also". One of our client requested if I can make a kitchen for her similar to the display on Kitchen One & Metastone. Without any hesitation I said "YES" (brave man) :D:D:D

I acquired my first wood working tools the bosch GSK 190, Bosch GMR1, Black & Decker Cordless Drill. Until know they are still on my side.

Re: MDF Boards Projects

Blum Inner drawer mechanism with Blumotion - 30kg & 50 kg capacity.
Hinge Blum Zero Protrusion with Blumotion

Blum Tandem Box with Gallery Rail - 50 kg Capacity

What I like with blum tandem box drawer mechanism is you can aligned the drawer face (vertical - horizontal) using a philips screw driver. Adjustment screw is hidden on the plastic cover cap with Blum logo on the side of mechanism.

Re: MDF Boards Projects

bro..you are now elevated as the master of mdf cabinetries!

har! har! har!

can you point to me exactly where i can buy the blum drawer glides?

they are expensive but for some kitchen cabinetries, i want my drawers to glide and last long.

i know for sure you know about the hazards of using contact cement but...

i do not know also of any glue to replace the speed and durability of contact cement.

@balarila,

a piece of 18mm mdf weighs a ton to me! hehehehe

Re: MDF Boards Projects

What's the joinery used for these laminated MDF?

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.
