hi guys,

i saw this bed from the net and i really like to build one for my kids using laminated MDF. i need your opinions on how to build this. i have some questions like:

will 1" laminated mdf be strong enough for this project?
will butt joints and mdf screws be enough to hold the pieces together?

thanks!

Edit:
Sorry guys, for some reasons, the image from pb wont show up 🙁

here's a link to the image

Re: MDF Bunk Bed

Very nice project to build. Looks functional too in terms of storage.

Our Master Woodworkers here surely would chime in and give their suggestions and help specially that the project is for a kid.

Re: MDF Bunk Bed

thanks, Jay!

may i ask why the image didn't show when i attached it?

the good thing about laminated mdf (based from what i've read so far) is that you just cut and assemble. except for edge banding, of course, that i think is a little tricky to do. but i'm really concerned about how sturdy will it be. i can't imagine the top bed collapsing to the bottom bed. how bad is that? 🙁

Yes.

Yes, as long as you use the correct screws... dovetailing or box joining mdf is really not recommended anyway.
