Ha-ha! I have that exact plan from PlansNow.com!

Been mustering the courage to build it for my miter saw that's still in a box. How long id it take you to build it? I assume you also built the arms and the prop?

Re: Miter saw Stand & tool chest combo

Yes sir the design for the miter saw stand is from woodsmith book, but the original did not have the drawers. So I incorporated a plan from plansnow. I did not like the idea of putting just cutoff shelves underneath.

Took me half a day for the carcase. For the whole current setting took me 3 days. I had to make my own measurements for the materials are not the same as in the original plan.

It's not yet complete, JayL. The leveler and the extension platform are not yet in.

When done I believe it should look like this

Good idea adding the drawers, supaflay. More efficient use of space. I think I'll do that, too.

Yes. Good idea on the drawers.

I will probably make mine without drawers first. Para magamit ko na yung miter saw which has been sitting in the box for 2 months now. Pag sinipag, saka na lang yung drawers.

Please post your WIP and any tips or watch-outs. Thanks.

Re: Miter saw Stand & tool chest combo

Thanks sir joey!

Well for me the only thing i would be carefull with are the drawers. I made a mistake in measuring for the dimensions. The drawers became a practice project for my router table sitting at the left side of the stand.

Will post soon when I finish the extensions and the finishing.

Re: Miter saw Stand & tool chest combo

Ayun ... iba talaga me drawers ... space saver yan

For me naman usually I leave the last one or two drawers out .. when I work I accumulate a clutter of tools and don't want it scattered on the top.

Re: Miter saw Stand & tool chest combo

Oo nga sir jayL Karamihan na ng mga small tools ko nasa mga drawers na nito, dati nasa folding workbench ko. I had to duck under just to get my tools. Kakapagod paulit-ulit ang pagyuko.

Wala pa lock ito sir, naghahanap ako ng gang lock. I saw one thread na meron siya gang lock na na-install sa Deluxe router table niya. Does anyone know where to get one?

Thanks

Re: Miter saw Stand & tool chest combo

Very very nice.

You are encouraging me to go and build this already.

Question: I never really completely understood the necessity of this part:

Mounting plates for the extensions

Is it just for fine adjustment of the level of the extensions?

Was it difficult to align?

In a way, yes. Its the last line of defense in getting proper alignment.

Its very difficult (at least on my experience) to get the wing parallel to the (as in parallel planes) to the miter saw bed. Small measurement and cutting errors accumulate and it will show up in the final assembly.

The wing-nut leveler below can only adjust alignment in one axis. The above part will let you adjust in the other two axes before screwing the platform in its final position.

Go! Go! Go! Its time to build one for your still in the box miter saw.

Re: Miter saw Stand & tool chest combo

@balarila
The main use is for the sideways adjustment of the extensions. The method I used is supporting the extension tables with a piece of scrap wood while the mounting plates are inside/underneath the extension tables. then I scribe the sides of the mounting plates with pencil after aligning the extension tables. Then i screw the mountings in place based on the pencil marks on the wings. The mounting plates must fit underneath the extension tables without play.

Go ahead sir and build one. I enjoyed doing mine because I was able to use the miter saw on this project.
