This is my second project, a humble jewelry box for my mama made of ordinary lumber and of unknown specie of wood given to me by my bayaw (i think its molave, newbie po kasi). Slowly I'm building my skills in woodworking before buying those expensive power tools para hindi aksaya sa pera 😉

Re: My 2nd project

This is just your second project? Its quite good!
I think you already have the skills for woodworking..

Btw, you can always make another reply to post additional pics within a thread.

nice box 🙂

Thanks Sir beebeenator.

I hope to inspire fellow newbie woodworkers here to produce a project. My backyard shop below proves how newbie I am as well as my shop. Di ko akalain na maa-addict ako sa woodworking ng ganito. Still a long way to go..maybe next year pag-graduate sa college ng 3rd child ay puno na ito ng tools. Kita nyo naman ni walang bubong basang-basa sa ulan yan kagabi. The box is sitting on my improvised TS (Black&Decker CS).

Re: My 2nd project

ah so you have an improvised ts, I have been wondering how you made those splines holes perfectly sized with hand tools only.
also, medyo malabo na konti (konti lang) mata namin Armand, can you post picture that are a little bigger (640 x 480 pixels would be best but not any bigger pls). we love pictures here...

Re: My 2nd project

Hi Sir Timber, the splines on the cover frame were done on my TS kaya manipis but not the splines sa body ng box. I knew i will have problems sa second pass sa TS to make the splines wider so i rather had them manually done. My TS is a crap, the table top is so wide kaya lubog ang gitna due to the weight of the CS. You can imagine a gap between the fence and the table near the blade. So precision cut is an issue. Plano ko talaga baguhin ang TS ko into smaller one para di lumubog ang gitna. Pasensya na po sa shop ko.

Re: My 2nd project

no need to be sorry about your shop, I would actually like one with space like that. as for the ts, seems you have been using that for a while now, have you any kickback with it? no bad intentions here, just asking. in my opinion, you probably can do away with the miter slots for it, should you need miter slots, you can design them to be outside the top or on the sides, that way it doesn't affect the top's strength. or for some savings you can find some ts's here that can be sold for a small amount used, just ask around. maybe same price or even cheaper than a good brand circular saw...

Re: My 2nd project

Thanks Sir Timber, abangan ko na lang kung sino ang mag-a-upgrade ng TS.

My TS is barely two months old pa lang and has produced 2 serious projects, 3 screen doors and two benches. Hindi talaga ako happy sa output nito so a real TS is first on the list.

Hope to see you Sir sa Hafele seminar.
