Re: My avrack
I like it! Seems very original, spartan in design, and exquisite in execution.
ADDED: I should also mention that its amazing that you're using manual tools and MICs nonetheless.
Yes you got it...Originality and uniqueness is my perspective everytime I've think of a project :).
stupid question what MICs means:mad:

Re: My avrack
Speaking of mahogany If you are looking for a bunch of cut mahogany hardwood, there a place along Anabu Imus Cavite (if you are near) a big lumber yard about 5000sqm land, the owner tour me to his wood yard and he ask me to see those uncut trank of mahogany tree!. what funny is when he knew that i only needed a few cuts he left me na hehehehe. But his easy to talk too. And heres another funny thing while im walking looking for a good lumber I find one that attracted me a 2hX 36wxl10 size of wood with good grain and color and I ask
the owner "boss magkanu yung kahoy na nakasandal don sa pader" the owner answer "yan ang maganda kasi tuyo nayan bigay ko sayo 50 pesos per sqfoot" then I asnwer "ok let me see it muna". The owner ask his boy to pull out the lumber and then the owner left to rush a phone call. So i ask the boy "pre anung kahoy ito" the boy answer ah eto po, punong mangga po yan" and I answer nye!! cge paki balik nalang hehehe:D..Buti nalang the owner rush for a call.In fairness those mango tree where good looking lumber, so Is mango tree is a good lumber?

Re: My avrack
MIC= Made In not USA:captain:
Manggo wood, yes they are very nice wood to use ... so according to your story, most wood in that yard isn't dry? or just air dried without proper time record?
very difficult to work with green (newly cut or not fully dry) wood and can result to twisting or warping once a project is done.
with the bit brace, look for auger bits, these are designed for bit braces. twist drill bits can be used but very hard and awkward.

Yes their newly cut lumber (air dried) thats the reason why I did not pursue in buying from them. I got my lumber from a sash furniture maker instead.
thanks for the tips on the bits, will going to look for that auger bits, but do they still available in the market?:( thanks you for welcoming me

Natawa ako dito.
MIC means Made in China.
Actually, in fairness, there is a lot of good MIC stuff ... unfortunately they're smart enough to keep the good stuff to themselves or sell to those that are willing to pay non-scrap prices.
Personally, I look to the US for cutting edge stuff but if you want something next to perfection its the Japanese or the Germans.

repeated work from filler(patching compound), sanding and painting till it smoothend the surface
Also correct used of sandpaper grit, from my experienced i used 100 to 400 grit. Also a lot of patience in sanding hangang sa mangalay na kamay at braso ko.:D
