Re: My Commissioned Conference Table build...

got 4 boards milled but not to uniform size yet...

for the top I filled 6 of the largest trash bags with wood from shavings and dust, today I am into 1/4 of another, can you imagine how big my muscles would be if I hand planed these? 😮

Re: My Commissioned Conference Table build...

Your poly looks great! With such a large surface area im impressed that there are little air bubbles.

How do you prevent bubbles normally present when brushing on poly?

Re: My Commissioned Conference Table build...

I watch them with a tiger eye Moji, I think it scares the bubbles away... :p
Frankly, I just brush it on with the small bubbles and the second or third strokes burst them away. I am not very particular at this point since most of this will be sanded away... again...
three more coats and the same steps... haaay :p

Re: My Commissioned Conference Table build...

after 5 hours...

This is great! The finish is just like my dining table (which I bought).

I never thought that it would come down to this finish. I sometimes gaze on my dining table how it was finished and now I know. Thought that it was finished with a matte varnish (if such exists) as most sample poly coats I see on hardware are so d@rn shiny and thick.
