Re: My Quickie Workbench

nice looking wb Software, several things... try not to skimp on glue. its a wb and you want the glue to be more for strenght and not be too concerned with squeeze out and appearance (you can clean it anyway). as for the legs, I will try to hold my comments until you say its complete.... or if want some advice.

Bro, congrats on your build and I'm pretty sure many WIPs will pass that table, !!!!!!!
GO GO GO GO and continue posting your build so that others too may be inspired like me, LOL

Re: My Quickie Workbench

Go baby, go! Hehe...

I'm not an expert woodworker by any measure, but can I offer constructive
comment?

I wonder about the framing, but maybe there's additional bracing to come?
If not, a stiffener panel joining the rear legs and the benchtop's frame may
help w/ stability (vs. the force of planing longitudinally on the bench). Kung
stretchers lang, baka kulang, but you know better than anyone what sort
of work you want to do on that bench, and how strong it has to be, hehe.

I'm not the biggest fan of non-drying oil or wax finishes for a bench top, kasi
I've had problems staining/finishing sensitive workpieces na nahawaan ng said
bench wax/oil finish. Depending on your microenvironment and type of work
on the bench, you could even find yourself saddled with a coat of light gum.
Just a heads-up, and certainly, other woodmanglers have worked on oiled or
even waxed tops without problems.

Looking forward to more progress 🙂

Re: My Quickie Workbench

I hope the other could correct me if needed but I find cross diagonal bracing to be the most effective and strongest support. Thus it's been used in doors and even in high upward metal structures where stiffness is of great priority like electric towers.

Generally speaking, yes.
That is because triangle frames, which cross-bracings form, are much harder
to deform than a square (whose weak points are its joints, which allow it to get
bodged into a parallelogram). A solid panel is generally stronger than a frame,
but weighs more.

Btw,nakakainggit nag mga b/new tools ni software 🙂

Re: My Quickie Workbench

@violaine

@timber715

@rosy

@JayL

@horge

@ernie_serrano
happy new year din

@jarod

for today i just baby sit my hangover from last night 🙂

-bro, the slider's will have shallow cuts at the start and in the far end simply because the blade is circular..

i usually place a sacrificial wood in front of the material being cut to be able to have a uniform cutting depth..its just simpler to do this kind of cuts using the slider..rather than on the TS..except of course when your material is around 12 inches wide.

-the ls1013 is a VERY precise machine..except for the noise.

next time ka na gumawa ng mas sturdy workbench with all the accoutrements.

besides nag economize ka na..i fear baka mag sag sa gitna yung wb top kasi you laminated the wood on their narrow ends...2 x 4's yung lamination mo di ba?
