Hi guys,
I think it's time to finally be proud of my latest creation that I have kept for so long. I would like to apologize for the long time I have not been posting any WIP (Work In Progress) as I have been planning and saving for the material and gears to make this possible.
I have taken my time to research and learn from the key persons here in order to create an almost near perfect router table that I could be proud of. There had been many mistakes along the was but I guess it's all part of the whole journey.
There might be questions on the materials and items that I used or bought but I guess to each his own and I love this as much as how I worked for it.
Hope you guys love my new baby as well 🙂
Aside from the Frued and Carb-i-tool router bits, the other items that burnt my pocket was the extra long miter tracks, router switch, surgical grade plugs and the dovetail jig I used in creating the drawer boxes for extra pogi points.
I also added some exhaust port provisions just for safety but my main dist extraction is the one below connected to my central Torq DC (Dust Collector). Sorry for the mis-matched veneering on the exhaust ports. The veneer was too expensive to have it redone, besides it will be on the back.
Re: My Secret Router Table Project
For the fence, I opted for a suction channel design which will direct to the main extraction unit below so as to minimize additional hoses on the fence for a cleaner look. I have the JessEm Rout-R-Lift FX model which set me back for $195 alone. Some may say why I have not opted for the $165 Triton instead? That is too bland I think for me and many already had it so I want pave my own way. I tried the lifting mechanism of the Triton and comapred it with my FX lift, it was night and day. The FX's operation was smoother than me mixing molten ice cream on it's tumbler waiting to be sipped.
I added some splines just for aesthetics on the corners. I planned to have it dovetail but I guess it would be better that way as the table top is too thin for dovetail to be appreciated. I know this because I was the one who advised timber to dovetail his workbench for me to know how it would look, I guess I was not happy with it so I added splines instead. As you can see, the dovetailing is mostly done on the drawer boxes. I chose half-blind dovetails as I will have false fronts for a uniform fascia.
Sorry for the dust, I was so eager to take a pic of it when I got home.
Re: My Secret Router Table Project
The main extraction chamber that collects dust coming from the upper dust channel on the fence and the insert plate.
Last but not the least, the innards and the central machinery of the whole table. You could see the beautiful machined aluminum of the FX lift colored in anodized red and gold. Attached to the router lift is the beast and true "Bad Boy Router" of them all that I have been longing for - the 3 1/4 HP - 15 AMP Porter Cable Production Series router.
Thank you for looking at my new project and hope you found it good as well. I have been painstakingly working on it for the last 6 months to get the best that I could and with no rush. Have a great day ahead and happy april fool's day. May we share more and more knowledge and grow stronger as a community. Mabuhay PHM!
