I am not sure why but I would like to post some of those that i have done here for your comments on how I can improve.

I am a full time employee and woodworking is something I picked up really recently and would like to be able to do constantly.

I do not have a workspace, I need to bring the car out of the garage for me to be able to work.

My work bench also doubles as a guest table (of course I would need to top it with a table cover to be presentable) when needed.

I would hope to also share my experiences on put a note on what i would do better next time.

i currently have a circular saw, angle grinder, cordless drill/ screw driver, palm sander and a dremel.

thanks for lookiing

Re: My woodworking attempts

this is my work bench.

legs were actually one the frames of our garage door. I sliced it in half using an angle drinder and used a riveting tool to attach a 3/4 plyboard on top.

i installed an extension cord in the middle of one side of the table (below the ply board) for my power needs. I initially installed it on one end of the table but that required the cord to travel longer and was just a disaster waiting to happen.

i have placed wooden blocks at the ends of the legs to prevent it from scratching the floor when used indoors.

the board below the table is is a shelf for tools being used at the moment, it allows me tpo keep the top of the table clear, it is also removableso that feet can move freely when used as an addional party table.

on the upper side of both ends of the table are two wood panels they help stabilize the table and likewise allows me to store long wood when needed

clamps allow me to extend the table space on both ends. these have been useful when i cut wood as it prevents the wood from falling on the floor and getting damaged

Re: My woodworking attempts

1st piece

i thought i would want to start doing some artsy stuff with wood and bought my self a dremel.

i was inspired by this wall in SFO airport with thousands of artwork from this guy who used a 3'x3' as his canvass while commuting to and from work

bought wood and cut a small block, i decided to create something for my kids.

the dremel was good and bought myself some attachments and also replaced the chuck

what i realized was madali gumupit ng kahoy, mahirap mag isip ng gagawin

also i learned that cordless are no good pag naubos ang battery, i already have a spare battery

Re: My woodworking attempts

@earl8,
you have enough tools to make fancier projects.

pero parang mas mahirap "gumupit" ng kahoy kesa mag isip ng gagawin...

just kidding.

buti nga ikaw me dedicated workbench na.

i acquired tools before thinking of building a decent workbench.

when already having backaches.

Re: My woodworking attempts

@violane

i only got an idea to create a work bench through internet sites and forums like PHM. this forum really helps and encourages people to learn faster and to be less frustrated.

i will post more pics of other stuff...

Re: My woodworking attempts

2nd piece

my daughter and wanted to do long boarding and infact saved her christmas money to buy one. I of course found an excuse to buy another for myself. I then realised that she had a skateboard from wayback which was still ok but the design no longer suit her age.

i decided to paint it and got the best complement ever from a teenage daughter... she shouted out ASTIG!!!

if you can read notes, you'd know her name 🙂

Re: My woodworking attempts

3rd piece

since i do not have a good reference point for a right angle, i saw a tip that i should create my own 90 degree angle wood where i can clamp woods for joining.

i did one and it took me a hour to create one which i think was acceptable enough.... hehehe magirap pala mag woodworking kasi ang taas ng level ng accuracy needed...

siguro kulang lang ang gamit ko 🙂

Re: My woodworking attempts

4th piece

I had a lot of time on my hand this weekend and i decided to do another project

this wall needs additional shelves similar to the one on the right, i decided to make a wooded one...

i have also made up my mind not to use screws or nails..

i also have decided to practice making woodworking joints...

these will be the main wood for the shelves

these are the legs

these will be the braces that will attach the contraption to the wall to make it stable (i actually will be using screws to attach the shelves to the wall

Re: My woodworking attempts

i decided to do tenons to mount the legs

i then decided to do dowels to connect the second level shelf
i didnt have the dowels yet so i decided to get creative and cut chopsticks to size 🙂

hopefully this works..

more clamping to attach the second level

Re: My woodworking attempts

how they are all connected, made mistakes on which side of the wood to drill at

the final product, made a mistake and needed to cut the ends of one side on the top level

how it now looks

am happy that i am able to try different joining techniques and got some experience points which i hope i will not repeat on projects more visible to others..

next would be the hanging spray paint/glue/etc shelves for the left side wall
